Comments about Race Cycling Duffel Bag:
CX race day packing is a challenge-you show up with every possible combination of clothing clean and then need haul home two sets of muddy clothes with leftover clean stuff. I've been on the low budget plan for awhile using a pair of 2 euro Ikea bags with mesh laundry bags from the Blocker. Functional but not very pro in the kleedkamers (if you don't know you're not pro yet . . .). Enter the Timbuk2 race bag.
The good: waterproof bottom prevents wet cold concrete floors soaking your stuff and cleans easily. Three compartments--clean in the middle, helmet at each end. All three vinyl lined to wash out the funk; shoe pocket has a crusty sand drain. Pocket on top flap for little stuff. Bottle pockets on the outside-I use them for the things you need to store outside like embro tubes and such. So clean stuff gets used, dirty stuff goes into the shoe pocket and helmet isn't flapping around headed to the changing room. Backpack straps for carry and they stay out of the way using the bag. Size overall is good-like any bag you wish it were a little bigger while you pack too much and a little smaller hauling around so it must be about right.
The less good: needs two, maybe three things to be perfect. Center compartment needs a divider bin on the end (helmet side) for separating small items like gloves. Mesh pocket on top needs to be split in two sections and expand just a touch more. And the big one--the wet pocket needs to be expandable into the dry pocket. Cleaning the dry area 'cause the wet ran out of space is time wasted. Just saying'. And ditch the sunglass pocket. If glasses are in the bag then they go inside the helmet-better to have a phone/document sleeve in the helmet pocket to find your stuff on the way to the podium.
At the race--gets job done, easy to deal with, light color inside so you can find stuff, pretty good but not perfect.
Timbuk2 could send me the updated 5 star bag to test next season-happy to help the product manager. :-)
