What's this all about?

The only thing mini about the Anza is its form factor. Designed for women with style and places to be, the Anza holds her own in the office, on the train, and brunch on the weekends. Ideal for holiday touring or weekday routines, the Anza holds everything you need to conquer Rome in a day (sunglasses, cardigan, cards, camera, keys, water, etc.). It even has a spot for an iPad or 13" MacBook Pro for when things get a little more involved. Its low-profile straps have a single attachment point, a restrained design detail we love, that eliminates ungainly dangling. Mini but very mature, the Anza awaits you.

Comments about Anza Mini Backpack:

I bought this on sale despite the many reviews panning it; I really wanted a small backpack to use as a purse for commuting and daily life. Sadly the reviews are right. I have bought many T2 products over the years and this is the first disappointment.

The single-point-strap-through design is annoying; having no distance between the strap connection points means that putting this on both arms when in a bulky garment is not easy. The straps do flip frequently with use, making them uncomfortable.

The second point I want to reinforce from another review is that the zipper on the front pocket only has one pull and only goes one direction. Due to the shape of the pocket, that makes it annoying to open and closeand makes me feel less secure about the objects in that pocket. I want the stop point for the zipper to be on the middle top, with two pulls, not on the side.

The Pisco was a great small backpack. You guys nailed it with that one. So ditch this zero and get back with that hero.

Comments about Anza Mini Backpack:

I use this great mini backpack to commute to and from school everyday. I was looking for something that would fit my essentials without looking bulky or like a college student-- this fits the bill perfectly! I can fit 1-2 books, a notebook, my iPad, my lunch and all the usual 'purse' items (wallet, chapstick, sunglasses, water bottle/travel mug, tea, etc)-- sometimes it's a bit tight, but overall it's been good for me to be more honest about what I actually need to carry with me! I got the off white/brown color combo and it goes with everything. I've gotten many compliments on the backpack!

The only drawback I've noticed so far is the outer pocket isn't fully waterproof-- my wallet has gotten a little damp in heavy rain.

    Comments about Anza Mini Backpack:

I've read a few of the reviews for this bag and was a little hesitant to get it. I have 2 other bags from Timbuk2 so I also had high expectations.
I just received it and absolutely love it. I'm 5"2' and it fits perfectly. It doesn't have CRAZY room but it's enough to use for commuting. I can fit my wallet, shoes, sweater and small little things like hand lotion, lipsticks, pens, little notebook, kleenex, etc. It's definitely roomy enough to carry the essentials you may need from day to day during your commute.
It prevents you from carrying too much junk and needing a mini suitcase on the train!
Thanks, Timbuk2! This bag is awesome!

    Comments about Anza Mini Backpack:

It's rare to find a backpack just the right size for a 13" Macbook. I have been using this bag for about 6 months. I am a professional woman and take this bag to work daily. I'm 5' 2" and skinny and hate to carry a bag that's any bigger or heavier than necessary. The size of this bag is therefore just right for by needs. On the whole, I love this bag save for the following gripes:
    1. There is no quick access side pocket for my phone. Timbuk2 should consider adding a side zip pocket big enough for a smartphone. I think this is my biggest complaint about this backpack. A quick access pocket is particularly critical while wearing an outfit lacking pockets (e.g. a dress or a skirt). Assuming that Timbuk2 intended this backpack for women, this is something that deserves serious consideration.
    2. There is no zip pocket in the main compartment. You end up having to dump your articles into a bottomless pit! I consider this a big step backward from its predecessor the Pisco.
    3. The front zip pocket has an internal sleeve pocket. But whatever you put inside usually spills out. A simple button would have really helped.
    4. The metal buckle thing on top of the straps is a serious design flaw. After months of use, I still fail to see the point of it. The straps keep flipping and twisting while sliding through it causing constant annoyance.
    5. Placing a pocket for a bottle inside the main compartment is absurd. Sometimes bottles leak! Again, a side mesh for a bottle would have been a very useful feature. A zip pocket for a smartphone on one side and a bottle mesh on the other would have been very useful.
    6. Although I use this backpack daily, I have used it lovingly. It's not been manhandled. But I recently noticed that the fabric around the button on top of the laptop pocket has started tearing. Given the hefty price tag, it's too soon for that! It's barely been six months!
    7. I have the confetti-black version, which looks really elegant. But the fabric gets dirty. The exterior is not waterproof either.

    Comments about Anza Mini Backpack:

I absolutely love the Anza Mini Backpack. It's a really great size to carry my 13" MacBook Air (there's room for a 13" MacBook Pro or other 13" laptop, but the Air fits in nicely). I'm usually packing it full with my 13" MacBook Air, a clipboard, coffee tumbler, novel, wallet, keys, pens, and glasses case. I do occasionally put a rather textbook in my bag, which does make it hard to stash my coffee tumbler in it, but that's not a complaint by any means. I really do love the size of this bag. I just wouldn't recommend it to somebody who needs to carry quite a few books on a regular basis.

The only thing that I would like to see improved is having a few more dividers in the front pocket. Especially 1-3 slots for pens. I could get away with a pen slot, but two would be nice. I will definitely buy the bag again if they improve this. It might be better if the one slot in the front compartment is divided into two and then two pen slots are added.

Otherwise, this is a really nice bag for a student. It carries all of my stuff without being a massive ugly backpack. Very cute and feminine.

      Comments about Anza Mini Backpack:

I was really excited when I saw this new backpack. I'm a petite 5' 2" and I've wanted a smaller backpack that has the functionality of a sporty Timbuk2 pack but looks more like a woman's bag. This has the perfect dimensions (not so small to look ridiculous and not so big as to be longer than my back). I purchased the new blue striped "train conductor" style and it looks great (even better in person than online). On style/looks and size, this bag is perfect. But in functionality it has some drawbacks.

If I could design my own ideal smaller backpack, I'd add some of the features of the Candybar on to the Anza. Step 1: I would change the zipper on the front zip pocket to a double-zip style (like the one used for the main compartment). Step 2: the straps on the Anza are straight and therefore they rub against your arms as you walk. I'd replace them with curved straps that taper at the bottom like on the Candybar. Those are way more comfortable. Step 3: the front zip pocket looks great from the outside (sleeker, not like the ugly boxy outer pockets you find on standard school packs). But inside is a single open slip pocket made of the same thinner material as the bag lining. I would replace it with an organizational pocket made of the sturdier nylon like on the inside of the front pocket of the newer Candybar pack. FYI, I own 2 Candybar packs and I love them. But I also want a backpack like the Anza for everyday use when I'm carrying less stuff. I like to walk a lot and a backpack works better for me than a purse. But I want a bag that is dressier but is lightweight, sturdy, and functional like a sport pack. So the Anza is very nearly my ideal bag.

I've seen you make improvements to bags based on customer feedback before (like adding the locking strap to the front of the original Candybar); so I have every confidence that this bag will be improved. And I will buy the improved Anza as well. I love Timbuk2 bags and I'm really glad to see that you are making a variety of bags aimed at women.

      Comments about Anza Mini Backpack:

I use this bag frequently, when I only want to carry my basic items (wallet, keys, phone, lip balm, e-reader). I have sometimes used it to carry a 13-inch work laptop. In essence, this is a light carry pack. It has enough pockets for the very basics.

However, sometimes the straps turn inside out due to flipping at the metal attaching point on the upper back on top. This has happened more often whenever I carry a bit more stuff in the bag, or if I carry it on a single strap.

Still, the bag does what it's supposed to do, and it's well built. The zippers are very smooth. I own the black one, with the pink w/white polka dots inside. This fabric is very easy to clean.

      Comments about Anza Mini Backpack:

I use the Black/Confetti edition of this backpack daily for work. It's perfect for a 13" MacBook Pro with retina display. I used the Pisco before this. The Pisco felt a bit more comfortable to wear, but the Anza Mini successfully addresses several limitations of the Pisco. The Pisco was designed for iPads. So the top of the MacBook would stick out of the sleeve unprotected. The Anza, although smaller in size has a sleeve that fully protects the MacBook. The front pocket is also much more usable than the Pisco's front pocket. It has two sections. I can fit my Kindle Paperwhite + cover in it along with my cellphone, keys, and wallet. I should point out that I commute by train and find it a tad hard to take my phone out. I wish there were a quick access side pocket for the phone or a commuter pass. I miss the internal zip pocket the Pisco had. I end up using the internal mesh pocket (meant for a water bottle) to store other articles. While I loved the look of the black Pisco, I also find the Confetti design of the Anza very pretty. Although the inner lining is clearly waterproof, I remain a little concerned about the water resistance of the fabric exterior.

      Comments about Anza Mini Backpack:

Yes, this bag is small. But that's why I bought it; I'm trying not to carry things I don't need. I carry a notebook, a planner, my iPad, wallet, and a few pouches for random cosmetic/electronics, and occasionally an umbrella. In addition to these, I carry a folder or book, and a Mac bluetooth keyboard.

It's very comfortable. I also really like the straps. I often have trouble with straps being too wide, but these are perfect. I also like that the straps are connected through the ring at the top; I find it easy to put the bag on with this system.
