      Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

Decent bag, love the water proofing (used to have to buy covers in addition). The part that annoys me is that the zip on the back that lets you put the shoulder straps away is left open when you have the straps out (so 99.999999% of the time). This makes the back of the bag look clumsy and I hate seeing zips open or pockets left open. I will end up having to stich in some Velcro or something to try and keep that area sealed and tidy it up. I just don't get why it would be left this way when that is how the bag will be the majority of the time. The rest of the bag is good, pockets are good size and bag feels sturdy and weatherproof.

      Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

The Aviator is essentially a two compartment piece of lightweight carry-on luggage that can be comfortably worn as a backpack. The design is clear and relatively clever with a large expandable main cavity covered by the broad front panel and the top flap concealing a second compartment intended as a "place to quarantine the stinky stuff."

This is great, right up until the compartment I'm supposed to place shoes and dirty laundry in also hides the laptop sleeve. No, it isn't a compartment it's a snug sleeve you can slip a thin laptop in. A strap of nylon about 2" wide held on with a square of velcro (or hook and loop fasteners if you must) to ensure a few snags in your valuable wardrobe is intended to secure said laptop, if not as effectively as the snug fit. Perhaps it's just my time in IT or the price tag of something like a 17" MacBook Pro that makes me want it isolated from sources of dust, pebbles and other unmentionable detritus that could damage it.

The Aviator boasts pouches on each flap but those are pretty much only good for thin flat items like your boarding passes and passport. As a simple piece of carry on luggage that will be easy on your back as well as the eyes this bag succeeds well. As a laptop bag; however, it is pretty tragic. There is no way to access your computer aside from the top compartment, requiring you to free the strap from its velcro without getting it caught on anything else or spilling the contents as you pull your laptop out. Isolated laptop compartments and secondary access panels are common on other Timbuk2 laptop bags but, they're sorely missed here.

Great pack I bought for my brother for Christmas as he will be studying in Europes. This is the perfect pack for weekend trips with a special compartment for a laptop and plenty of room for everything else you would take for a short trip. Tons of comfort and very durable! Love the way it looks too!

This bag has been designed for the frequently flier. The bag is perfectly engineered to tackle both modern airports and airplane carry-on restrictions. Practicality, function and durability have been prioritised in its design. Which is great. Although I would prefer more available colours and a more stylish design atheistic. Otherwise it is perfect.

            Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

This is a great bag. I am 6'3" and have used it for several trips both business and pleasure.

I've been able to fit in enough clothing to last 4 days (business casual attire, no suits), including work out clothes and a change for the evening after work business has been handled. An extra pair of shoes does get tricky. I am generally a light packer though, so besides clothes I am only including a laptop, charger, and a Kindle.

I have TSA Pre, so do not need to worry about taking out my toiletries or laptop, otherwise I could see it being awkward going through security though, since you need to undo the main clasp to access the main compartments.

I tried so many bags, and this one truly works the best for my needs. It is also amazing for weekend getaways.

I would like to echo all the sentiments about no water bottle holder, that is a mindblowing oversight.

If you know how to pack light, are only going for a few days, and despise checking a bag, this is the product for you.

            Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

            Pros:

Robust build, mostly smart/clever design. External pockets for stuff that requires them: passports, glasses, et al. Fantastic suspension for a bag of this type. Very comfortable for short airport slogs to gate, and longer hauls anywhere. Good-looking IMO.

            Cons:

            One major/one minor

Major: Accessing your laptop requires opening the zippered flap where you likely keep loose stuff like chargers, headphones, etc. These items will want to spill out when you pull your laptop to go thru security. I can think of a few design ways around this -- why it is the way it is is a head-scratcher, particularly for a bag called 'Aviator'.

Minor: Another, smaller, head scratcher -- no clip to hook your keys to. These would naturally go in the compartment under the top flap mentioned above, or in the small top flap pocket itself. Easy for them to fall out of either when opening for something else. Returning home to find no car/house keys in the pocket -- ouch! Hasn't happened but am very aware when I unzip those pockets.

Pros greatly outweigh the cons though. My go to bag for short jaunts, flying or not.
