Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

This is the best bag I've had. I fly 100k miles a year and this fits perfectly in the overhead on small planes. Fits my 15" laptop and I can put a change of clothes and a bunch of stuff in it. Has grab handles on all sides so it's easy to handle. I bought an extra for when this is worn out.

    Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

I bought this bag when it was on super sale earlier this year. I've now used it on short trips, (3-6 days) as well as a longer international trip (10 days). This bag has been awesome for both.

For a short weekend trip, we were able to fit everything two people needed for a 3 day trip in the bag. The design of the bag is fantastic. The main compartment doesn't seem huge when you look at it, but it really does fit a lot. The top compartment does come down into the main compartment, but the amount of space the top compartment actually takes up depends on how much you fill the top compartment. Even if the top compartment is filled to the brim, you can stash clothes, etc around the corners of the top compartment in the main compartment. I found that if you're really filling the top compartment up (I had boots, raincoat, books in the top compartment), if you fill that top up first, close it, and then fill the main compartment, you'll be able to fit more in the main compartment than if you had filled the main compartment before the top.

For air travel, this bag is great. Fits in overhead bins without issue. I've tried tucking the straps in as well as leaving them out when the bag is in the overhead bin. Leaving the straps out has been fine, and is probably easier. The bag is slightly unwieldy when carried from the side handle.

All in all, this bag is my new favorite luggage.

It's a really nice pack. I use it to do light traveling and prefer it over my other backpacks because this one keeps everything in place and can be easily accessed. I especially like the top compartment where I stash my Audio Technica ath-m50x's. Shout out to audio technica.

      Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

This bag was built with durability in mind. But if your not going into a war-torn country, why would want to lug around the extra weight In material, padding and straps within straps on straps. Whomever designed this went crazy designing straps and spaces to hold the straps that he or she forgot a person actually wants to put more than a laptop and lunch box in the bag. Also, don't expect much in the way of customer service from the corporate office. They're too "cool" to deal with problems.

        Fantastic Travel Bag

          Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

I was looking for a bag that I could carry-on to a trip to SE Asia for one week. With the help of a SpacePak packing cube, I was able to fit more than enough clothes in the bag, along with a pair of sneakers, flip flops, my dopp kit and some other random items. I did end up needing a second bag to carry my electronics - an SLR being the largest of them.

The Aviator Travel Backpack has some great features:
          - The integrated rainfly can be used as a dust cover when checking the bag
          - The straps are comfortable and easily zip away for streamlined checking or storage of the bag.
          - The zippers for top and bottom compartments can be locked with a single luggage lock for easy security.

I loved this bag. I have an Osprey Fairpoint 55 that is essentially 2 packs in one. I opted to purchase this Timbuk2 bag due to it's smaller size and carry-on status. It was much more comfortable than my larger pack and also more durable. The materials are rugged and I didn't have any concern tossing it onto a ferry, a longtail boat, or checking it on a discount carrier.

I love that when the straps are zipped away, it can easily be carried as a suitcase with the exterior handles.

A lot of reviews have noted limitations with space, which may be more prevalent for travel to colder destinations. I'm not sure how much clothing I could have packed had I been traveling the US domestically in February, but it's safe to say you could easily get by for a few days.

The bag held up and I look forward to many more travels with it!

          Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

This is a solid backpack, it seems very weather proof (love the included rain fly) has a nice laptop sleeve and fits A LOT but, it has no small organizational pockets and has no external water bottle/coffee travel mug holder. I overcame with first problem with some of Timbuk2's smaller bags that I either velcroed to the straps or put inside of it. But the lack of bottle sleeve is a pretty big drawback. Still a solid bag.

                Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

I was going to write my own review, but this guy summed it up perfectly:

After reading glowing reviews I purchased this bag for light travel and weekend getaways. Upon receiving the bag I was unimpressed. The hook and loop mechanism on the straps were awkward and looked cheap and flimsy. Stowing the shoulder straps is quite a process. The zippers were difficult. The laptop sleeve was insufficiently padded and strangely configured. The compartment zipper passthroughs weren't user friendly. The bag wasn't as large as I expected and I couldn't fit much more into it than my regular timbuk2 backpack I use for the same purpose. I returned the bag even though it meant taking a significant loss from the shipping charges.
