Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

Recent;y used this on a two week trip to Europe and Iceland. It served as my main bag (carryon), with a small companion bag for walking around. Really impressed with the capacity. One nice advantage that isn't mentioned is the security. All zippered sections include a half-covered end piece that makes it harder for potential thieves to zip open a compartment quickly. The main access points also benefit from multiple buckles over the zippers, making it near impossible to open without the carrier noticing.

The only downside I can see is the lack of a water bottle holder, and no way to easily bundle additional items to the outside without a separate system.

    Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

I have packed (and tried on), but have not yet left on a 9-day trip to Europe with this thing, and I can already say that it is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Not including what I'm wearing on the plane, I have packed 9 pairs of underwear and socks, a pair of jeans, and 6 long-sleeve (some thick) shirts (if I can't do wash, I'll reuse 3), thermal underwear shirt and pants (for a stopover in Iceland), a swimsuit, all of my toiletries, and a few electronic accoutrements. I'm not bringing my 13" MacBook (intentionally), but I also was able to fit that and the power charger in with no problem. Some room remains in the top pouch, but I'll be able to return with few souvenirs. I have an umbrella strapped in on the side of the rain pouch, and a weather resistant jacket strapped into the other side. The external pouches are also accessible from the inside, which is more useful than you might realize (the internal access is somewhat larger). With everything I have packed, it weighs about 25lbs, and feels incredibly comfortable with the hip strap clipped. I plan on carrying on to an international flight.

I was looking for a bag for this trip that I would also find very useful for frequent 3-4 day trips I make for work. I think Timbuk2 nailed it.

The only "con" I have right now is that I wish I had ordered a different color (but too late for my trip to exchange it). I ordered the "fatigue" color, which is quite a bit darker in reality than it is in the photos on the Timbuk2 and eBags websites. It is army green, and I had expected it to be a bit lighter than that. I'll add more to my review upon my return if I notice any wear from the trip, but I highly doubt to notice any.

          Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

I use this bag for lugging around my camera gear and personal items when I'm traveling for shoots. It fits everything quite nicely and even has straps for clipping on my tripod. There's so many little pockets and storage spaces that I'm never wishing I had more room. My favorite feature is the way it opens up like a suitcase so I don't have to dig around for my gear, just unzip and everything is available. After searching for many years I think I have found the perfect, Holy Grail of bags. Well done timbuk2!

I used this trip to Japan last week! It worked out great! It was a Transformer luggage- While in urban setting, a stylish luggage with three handles and while in the mountains, a rugged, usable backpack for mountaineering and trekking. The bonus is that the compact size allows you not to check-in and bring it as a carry on.

I pack practically with all travel clothes that wash out, plus a sport coat and extra pair of sandals. This bag holds it all, including my electronics. It packs nicely with only one fold in the pants if you are not an Amazon dude. It fits into the small commuter plane overheads. The shoulder straps are nice, the pockets accessible, the external tightener straps work very well.

I am very pleased...and much cooler than other people with their wheeled bags that have to be gate checked.

                Comments about Aviator Travel Backpack:

I used this as my carry-on bag for a 3 week trip to Southeast Asia. This was a family trip with my wife and a 7 year old son. I was the designated pack mule for this trip. Full, but not stuffed to the gills, the bag fit in the overhead bin of an ERJ 145 as well as the 777, 767, and A320. It was filled with a complete set of clothes for 3 people (in case we got stuck overnight somewhere inconvenient) as well as toiletries and other stuff. At one point, we had to run really fast at Chicago O'hare in order to catch a connecting flight.
The pack did its job. I was able to carry it without any noticeable issues.
This is not meant to carry a laptop through the airport, though. Whipping out a laptop through security would be a slog. My wife used a TSA friendly backpack for that.

We used this product as a carry all bag for our family trip to Brazil. I loved the hard back/bottom and soft front/top combination and the adjustable divider which gave us a lot of flexibility in packing. Strong, sturdy and easy to handle.

This bag was billed as a carryon but the compartment was a too small for a 3 to 4 day business trip. I think this was meant for a 1 to 2 day excursion where you don't need to carry anything bulky (i.e., shoes). If you're just carrying the essentials, this will work well.
