I’ve been getting a lot of questions on if you all offered camera bags since I bought my 2008 Grown Commute a few weeks ago. Seems like at least once a day I get asked. It’s def something I’d like to see in the future, since I’m a photojournalist and carry gear with me nearly 24/7.

Instead of the domke inserts, I’d highly recommend the Tenba Photo Insert for messenger bags. It’s cheaper, and more customizable than the domke ones. Here’s a link:

Do you plan on ever making a camera bag though? I’ve been waiting for a while for you to make one since I love my Timbuk2 bags, but don’t know how much longer I can hold off…
And oh, I’d be happy to ‘beta test’ camera bags for you if you need!

I was in your store a couple days ago looking for a camera bag solution. You have a great lady working there who showed me this blog post and helped me understand how I can build my own bag with these inserts.

Even so, I’d still like to see you develop a camera bag. It’s not just about the lenses and camera bodies. Cards, filters, cleaning supplies, model release forms – they all need a home.

PLEEEEEAAAAASE get a camera messenger in production. Something along the lines of the classic messenger/laptop. I need one yesterday. I don’t want to buy and hack, I want one ready to go. Out the door. I can’t ride with a big Domke cube on my back anymore and I hate backpacks.

    Seriously.

The world really needs a camera bag that looks like a timbuk2 bag as opposed to, well, a camera bag (blech).

a camera bag would make Timbuk2 the ultimate producer of bags. That is my only wish of Timbuk2! I bet sales would fly through the roof.

I’d like to see a bare bones lens type bag from you folks ala shootsac and BBB. Yours would rock and these small lightweight bags are perfect taking on shoots instead of a bulky and heavily padded bag…

PLEASE make bags for DSLR cameras. I love my TimBuk2 messenger for my laptop and really want a similar bag for toting around my camera. I am not asking for anything crazy, just something that can hold the body/lens and maybe a few accessories. Pretty please, with sugar on it?

Count me in too! Just a few mod’s to your standard messenger would be ideal – put a handle on the top, add in the extra padding on the bottom & back like the commute, but without the laptop sleeve, and add inserts! If the commute had velcro closures, I’d be buying one of those to hack, because I love the easy access to the front pockets. I’m also looking to carry wallet, cell phone, glasses case, etc… in those. I need a camera bag / purse & timbuk2 seems the closest I can find, so I’m going to hack a messenger bag & hope it meets my needs. I’d sure be buying a standard camera bag if you made one!

When I received the email “Seriously New” from Timbuk2 I thought, “this is it! Finally a camera bag.” Sadly I was disappointed, again. Hacking a back is okay but not as good as a bag specifically designed by you guys for a camera.
Please add me to the list of folks waiting, waiting, waiting, for a Timbuk2 designed home for my camera and lenses.

Agree with statements already posted. I own both crumpler and timbuk2 bags. Timbuk2 is the better quality bag. Crumpler is more forward thinking and sells padded compartments for their bags specifically for cameras. The digital photography market is huge and the majority of patrons are young and desire functionality and style. The failure of timbuk2 to design and market a messenger style camera/computer bag is a failure to tap into and capture an existing market. Those in charge are blind and should be at risk for losing their jobs. the overwhelming plea for this product is real! Even photo geeks would rather NOT carry a lowepro bag that labelled them as such.

The Japanese Timbuk2 insert looks sweet!
Cocotte Equipment out of Montreal also has a camera insert for their messenger bags.

    Worth investigating?

Add my crossed-fingers to the list of photographers wishing you guys made a camera bag. Preferably something that had a space for a laptop, plus the camera, a few lenses, filters, batteries, cords and the other accessories.

I’m with the others in saying that I’d gladly pre-order/fund a bag if it were to happen.

Thank goodness for relatives! I emailed my cousin in the Philippines about the camera bag. Yay! 4 stores by his work carry the Japanese version. I am anxiously waiting for photos of what they may have available. Luckily, my aunt is going in June and she can bring it back for me!!

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

I found out about Timbuk2 after reading this link on Consumerist.

    http://consumerist.com/5280351/timbuk2-really-really-wants-you-to-be-happy-with-their-bags

The very first think I looked for is a camera back for my Nikon D90 to nest in. Unfortunately there is none to be found.

I think we should gather & sign petitions & submit to Timbuk2 CEO or board members for camera bags. We’ve been waiting like forever. I dislike all other camera bags… Timbuk2 is the best in qualities, colors, styles & durabilities.

  38. Posted August 21, 2009 at 9:00 am | Permalink

Hoc. Ugh! Thank you for continuing to speak out about this . . . the more you do the more likely it is that we’ll make it happen (finally!).

Make a camera bag please. I’m already a customer using a small messenger and your hemp laptop backpack (excellent product).

One request regarding the camera bag – make it look much like all of your other products so it doesn’t stand out as a “camera” bag – both for the non-nerdy factor and so it doesn’t scream “steal me!”

    Thanks!

Please, please, please design a camera bag. I am ready to buy one now! I have two messenger bags that my husband and I use and we love them! The only thing I have found that I would consider buying is a ShootSac, but it very expensive and I’m sure not as durable as a Timbuk2 bag.

Why are you delaying when you clearly have orders ready to be placed? Think of all the consumers who didn’t post a comment. That is bad business.

When you do come around, as the previous post stated please don’t make it look like a traditional camera bag….your bag styles are superior!

Thanks much, not so patiently waiting :)

I’m on board here too… If you make them, they will come!!! I love my Timbuk2 laptop messenger, and recently picked up a DSLR… I was a little disappointed that T2 didn’t make a DSLR/Laptop backpack or messenger! If you make a dedicated bag for this, people will buy it. DSLRs are becoming more popular, and there aren’t many options out there that could offer the style/quality/price that T2 does.

Other than that, keep up the good work!

If you could make a backpack DSLR bag I would buy it without even asking or caring about the price. As a proud owner of multiple T2 bags I would definitely not mind adding another one to the stable. Please make it happen. Sooner rather than later. I have a great backpack bag as is but would replace it in a heartbeat with a T2.
