Green is the new blue. Face it, if you ain’t down with the neo-green movement, you’re as good as gone. Keep acting like everything, everywhere is disposable and pretty soon the planet will implode on itself like a shitty five-year old hotel in Vegas. If you don’t start saving your mother earth soon who will? Your planet ain’t gonna take this bitch slapping from you and your 6 billion plus buddies, so its time you start pitching in.
Lucky for you, nothing is cooler, badder or trendier these days then going green. I’m doin it, my mom’s doin it, hell, all the celebs are doin it! Take the movies for instance. If you stayed in the theatre past Tommy Lee Jones’ soporific recap this holiday season, you would have noticed that the studios are getting into the green game, by coughing up valuable skrilla for those useful carbon credits we desperately need to offset the mighty environmental impact of Hollywood’s lavish existence. Hell, I would even go as far to suggest that the Beckhams’ being crowned the worlds most environmentally unfriendly couple is proof positive of the growing green mentality of the general public. The mere fact that someone took the time to calculate such a number and then communicate it to the masses who then digest it and change their evil ways, is green enough for me. Way to go Becks!
Timbuk2 says F that. Instead of coming up with some bullshit green idea just so we fit in, we think we came up with a pretty rad idea. Discontinue the shipping of your bag in another “bag” and send it to you in a reusable bike-friendly map of San Francisco. How’s that for not bitch slapping your mama? We know everyone loves maps and pretty much everyone loves SF, so it’s win-win.
Kermit thee Frog once said, “It’s not easy being green.” Kermit thee Frog must be a giant wus. How hard can it be? Don’t be a wus.

can you buy the waterproof maps of SF?
The shipping bags only go out with bags being shipped, sorry. Buy a Timbuk bag and get a sweet shipping bag!
You should make more maps for various cities and use them based on the city you are shipping the bag to.
For example, I live in Boston. So when I order the bag, you would wrap it in this nice reusable bike map of Boston, rather than SF. People from Chicago or Portland would get the maps of their cities.
I understand that not all the cities can be bike-mapped, but at least it would work for those lucky ones that can be.
This way it’s less likely that the map would still end up being in the trash.
Misha,
would you believe that a team of hard working cartographers is on the case as we speak?
might not see some bags for a few months out, but the cities are in the works..
Portland, Austin, Chi town and Bean town.
pretty sweet.
miss keri.

I just got my bag-in-a-map and love this idea! The only problem is when I tried to pull apart the taped-closed side of the packaging it stretched out and ripped up the map. Hm. Still, five stars for doing something new, creative, and worthwhile!
This is an awesome idea. Just got my bag and map in the mail and meticulously cut out the map. So cool. I read that there were ideas on this site as to how to recycle the rest of the “bag” that is not part of the map. Just wondering where I might find them. Thanks!
