apparently..
to the suv drivers in san francisco, a bike lane represents FREE PARKING. after all, the police give tickets (sometimes) for parking in the valencia street median, so why not just park your new bmw in the bike lane. no tickets, and a shorter walk to the sidewalk.
if you live in ny you could find some of these stickers from i parked in a bike line dot org. though i have seen better ones..along the lines of “i parked in a bike lane and all i got was this sticker”…apparently not available online though.
the other option is of course to catalog all of the violators and then shame them by posting their license plates on the internet… but beyond the fact that few sf bikers are participating (though 2/3 of the offenders are on valencia st!), those people remind me too much of the where’s george people who are cataloging the comings and goings of their dollar bills.
