The concept behind his collection is all about protection, because we are starting to feel unsafe on the streets. There is a sense of vulnerability and a need to be guarded when venturing out in an urban environment. To Pepon, a Timbuk2 bags acts as a sort of talisman, protecting not only the contents of the bag but also the wearer itself. He gets it. I am amazed that someone so removed from our company can walk in here and in less than two days extrapolate the very essence of what we’re all about and convey it in such a poetic way. Not only that, but in two days he’s gone from a blank canvas to creating four compelling prototypes. He’s not just conquering this task, he’s kicking ass and taking initials…going to fast to take names! In the next few days he will continue working with Tae to figure out how to take his concept and turn it into reality. Very exciting!

It’s uncanny how true that is for me; one of the things I like most about my bag is the way the weight on the straps engenders a feeling of armor or protection. With my bag and its contents I am prepared for what life will throw at me; its weight is a constant and reassuring reminder.
Looking forward to see what comes of this.
