What do you think of moving our logo from the front of T2 bags to the strap? We tested it out in our SF factory and it looks pretty cool. We need to work on getting the embroidery to be top quality, but what do you think of the concept? I think it’s a cool way to show your T2 pride in a more subtle/different way. . .

I like the original placement better. Perhaps offer it initially as an option in the custom bag creation process, see how many people actually switch to it? Or at least leave the classic logo placement as an option in the custom bag creation for those of us who want the logo right out there and prominent.
I think its pretty rockin! What if you put it in both places?
Great feedback . . . I’ll pass it on to our designers.
Personally, I think the logo looks great right where it is. The current logo placement is a big part of Timbuk2′s brand. It’s a unique look. It’s part of the package. Why mess with a winning combination? If it ain’t broke, why fix it? What is the sound of one hand clapping? Er, ignore the last one…
But seriously… The idea of having the logo in both spots isn’t a bad compromise if you absolutely *must* change something, but then again I think it’s kinda redundant and still messes with the bag’s brand image. Don’t mess with a good thing, Timbuk2. Bad idea.
Just my $.02. Love your products. Keep up the good work.

I like the idea of a logo on the strap, but i would still want the logo on the back aswell. Where does the logo on the strap fall, i’d like to see it over the wearers chest.
I totally agree with Mud Bailey’s idea of having the logo in both places… However, if it would not be possible to have them both, my points will be: 1. the logo in the flap is really prominent than in the strap. 2. the strap is more susceptible to wear. thus the stitches at the back of the embroidery get more “punishment” which would probably effect to a “run” in the embroidery… get what i mean?
Hey I actually really like the logo on the strap. You could also sell the embroidered strap seperately. I only say this because I would love to have one on the strap, but I can’t wait and have to buy my second bag NOW! That nite bird fabric is too cool. *goes to place order*
I think is kind of weird. But i think you can try changing the material of the logo into reflector-type,or maybe matrix.
I still like the logo on the front of the bag but it’s cool on the strap too. The only problem is the accessory cell phone holder might cover the logo the strap.
I think the reflective idea is great. Our PD team is playing around with luminescent threads that light up at night but don’t look like dorky reflectors in the day. Do you think it’s important for reflective features to be subtle or do you prefer them to just be reflective and clearly bike-friendly?
Though it looks like a kinda cool idea, I think the current logo placement is iconic and should remain as is. Some people seem to want it in both places, (original AND strap) but I would not support a manufacturing cost/price increase based on this addition. Though your original question is of deleting the original logo location and moving it to the strap. I guess it would be inevitable that this issue would come up in a company meeting, as it is probably less labor to put logo only on strap (one size fits all), rather than all the necessary adjustments and hand alignments of putting the various and different bags and sizes you make on an embroidering machine. Your logos current placement is classic and a strong part of your branding
Mil – Exploring the logo placement is purely for fun and not at all for cost cutting (although, wouldn’t that be nice). We don’t have any plans to mess with our iconic messenger bag look/feel, we just have fun thinking up ways we can push it a bit so things stay fresh.
I think I prefer the original placement of the logo too. As to making the logo reflective, where I live in the fall and winter the sun can sometimes set around 4 pm so I would be more interested in having the extra capability than subtlety cars FLY through our campus and think stopping for people at crosswalks or sharing the road with bikes are merely suggestions.
Hi Lizzy,
Regarding reflective stuff, I am always stunned by that bright pink retroreflective plastic with the square pattern. I would like to see that as an option in the color chooser.
I’m kind of crazy, in that I love bright pink and orange together. I actually like the gradient from fuchsia thru orange thru yellow to white. Like the sun.
One more comment regarding style. Sometimes the black edging seems to dampen the other colors. Basic alternative choices like brown and white would open up a lot of room for other looks. I think a brown edge would have looked great on that giraffe bag!

Sierra – Incredibly helpful notes on color and reflective materials. There is a cult following for the pink and orange reflective. I have it in white and love it. Also, I agree 100% on the black edging. It’s hard to make a super hip looking bag when you can’t control that part. We have a really talented design team working on color and style here so I’ll pass these notes on to them. Keep the comments coming!
If I had to pick one, I’d say I like it on the flap. If I could have both, I would.
Lizzy,

Thanks so much for listening to your customers!
I feel like Timbuk2′s colors are often limited to conservative, dark, dull, or too bright.
Professional women are becoming less afraid to express their feminine style, including pastels and softer shades, not only looking for 100% saturation.
That said, I would personally go for pink-orange-yellow panels if I could afford it right now.
I like both the visible retroreflective and the covert options. One funky idea might be to have a hidden reflective pattern or message in the covert stuff, like a big Timbuk2 logo which only shows up under direct lighting.

Lizzy!
Another vote for leaving the logo where it is on the body of the case.
As an aside… I ordered a custom laptop messenger… with black/olive/black… and an olive logo… and the olive logo wasn’t even close in color to the olive panel.
That was disapointing… I should have ordered a black logo, I guess.
Also… I use it for a 15.4″ laptop… and the computer securing velcro strap needs to be about 1″ longer to be useful.
but still… an *AWSOME* bag.
I vote for leaving the logo in the back flap. I do like the idea of having the logo have some sort of reflective thread. It’d be very cool looking. In the custom bag website application, what about allowing people to upload images of things that they would want stiched to the bag? What about providing a set # of logos/designs that people could have stiched to their custom bags.
I love the Timbuk2 bags. It’d be cool to be able to customize the bag with other things than just the 3 color panels.
I like the logo on the strap. If I could CHOOSE, I’d choose no logo at all. Guess I’m kinda Cayce-Pollardian that way. But having the logo on the strap is the kind of branding I can live with.
I love the logo right in its original placement – smack on the front of the bag. Could see offering the strap logo as an option, especially for businesspeople, etc. I carry my Timbuk2 to work, whether I take the bicycle or the car, and love the logo.
I wish you’d even offer a logo fabric!
hmm….I a Singapore,A fan of Timbuk2.
But!,I only hate 1 thing,design.
3 colour panels and limited editions are quite boring and kind of ugly.

Now for the new logo placement.
I’ve comment once during January.
Hmmm…..I suggest a luminous coloured logo
But at a increased price of 2-8:USD.
Singaporean I mean
