Our friend Ben recently entered our Bag Biography contest, and we had to share:
dear timbuk2
i have had a XL timbuk2 bag for a couple of years, almost as long as ive been riding. i was heading to work when i noticed a pepsi truck was blocking a stop sign on the street i was about to turn left on. i slowed down and looked. i thought it was safe to go but i was wrong.
a red van came down the hill and hit me. i flew back a few feet but it didn’t stop, the van kept coming and ran me over. when it finely stop i was trapped underneath. after what felt like an eternity the driver backed up dragging me with him for a couple of feet until i eventually came free
i had 5 broken ribs and many bad road rashes all over my face, arms and hands. the worse of the injuries was a 3rd degree burn on the far left of by back caused by the radiator of the car. the doctor said if it hadn’t been for the bike bag i was wearing i would have had 3rd degree burns on my entire back and would need major skin grafts
although i wasn’t wearing a helmet. i am great full i was wearing my timbuk2 bag.
Ben
