Jared. He’s the newest member of the Timbuk2 team and today he came on up to the factory to build himself a spanking new Timbuk2 XL Messenger to carry his, well, life in I would imagine. It’s sure large enough. Its large and it’s red. He was really stoked to get the grand tour and watch his own bag being made from start to finish. I even threw a few historical tidbits in there to sound like a smarty pants. He was impressed. Now Jared can boast a whole host of random trivia when trying to win people over and influence friends. Random bits like the denier count of Ballistic nylon or how many stitches in the Timbuk2 logo are sure to be a hit with the ladies.
All and all it was a great visit. His favorite part was seeing the industrial machinery and mine was when I learned that, upon being hired, Jared sold his Chrome bag in anticipation for an upgrade to a Shiny Red Timbuk2. People listen up: this is the kind of thing that makes your mother AND your HR lady damn proud. Company pride!! Dedication to the cause!! It’s a beautiful thing. And it never gets old to watching excitement bubble over the magic of the factory and people loving what they do for money. Especially when it’s my job to keep ‘em happy – Win!
What?! You wouldnt show up to work at Apple with a Dell, would you now??

I’m really proud that we hired James Dean.
