That has to be somewhat of an allusion.
There do not seem to be any guides to make sure he does not run off of the slide which would have been highly probable.
Any bumps in the ground under the slide would have levitated him causing him to rotate out of alignment.
And there were no guards around the wooden base holding the blue pool.
He would have been killed had he hit the base.
Also his horizontal velocity was sufficient to break his legs upon hitting the far end of the shallow pool.
