Comments about Candybar Backpack:

Mainly used for the commute. Items stack neatly and securely given the narrow width. Love the easy access exterior pockets - makes grabbing the wallet or phone on the go a cinch. Not in love with zero ventilation for your back when biking. (Change of shirt a must.) And the fabric is tough to keep sparkling clean.

Comments about Candybar Backpack:

I'm an executive. I often commute to work via public transit, cycling, scooter, and/or walking. I've bought several nice, expensive one-strap bags (Tumi messenger, Chrome one-shoulder backpack) but they all hurt my shoulders and back really badly compared to a backpack. Plus, I find they don't really stay put on my back if I'm riding my bike. Unfortunately most backpacks are hideous looking and totally unprofessional & tacky. I also wanted a smaller bag so I couldn't pile up so much stuff in it (also hurting my shoulders / back).

In general this bag is great. It's compact; fits a laptop, lunch, water bottle, a sweater, a notebook. It's nice enough looking that I'm not embarrassed to be seen with it at work.

One caution: I had an earlier version made out of off-white canvas. It's not the ripstop nylon used for most other Timbuk2 bags. While I preferred the texture and feel of natural canvas, it picked up dirt like crazy. Washing didn't seem to help; the dingy smudges are still visible. So I'd get this in a darker color if they haven't updated the material at all.

Comments about Candybar Backpack:

After years of trying to fit everything for work in my hand-held Kate Spade leather purse or my leather shoulder-tote from Michael Kors, and constantly switching bags based on weather and being uncomfortable lugging the heavy bag, I decided to find a stylish but rugged backpack. This one is PERFECT! Stylish (I have it in black) & so comfortable! It fits a good amount of stuff (though maybe not all I'd like): a few small books or a notebook or small binder; 1-2 small tupperware with lunch inside; my planner; my wallet; my cosmetics. I love taking it every day. Although it isn't as roomy as the backpack I normally bring when traveling, I think I am going to downsize and use this one all the time! It fits my petite (5'4") figure better and is just so sleek!

The Candybar is exactly what I look for in a backpack. The fit is perfect for me small petite frame. The strap is very comfortable. It is just the backpack I have been looking for that would suit my work in the construction industry and for use between the work to swim class and even fishing!

    Comments about Candybar Backpack:

I needed a bag that would look okay to use for work but functional enough for me to pack gym clothes, lunch, snack, water bottle, and occasionally a pair of sneakers, on top of the day to day commuter items. I checked the bag out at the store prior to purchasing online, and thought it would be sufficient. However, after using it for about one month now, I find there aren't enough pockets to help organize everything I have. It's also difficult to dig through to find items I need. The back padding is very flimsy and does not provide much support and makes it very uncomfortable when carrying bulky items. The additional length of the shoulder is too long as suggested by another reviewer. I fixed this by using self-wrapping velcro which allows me to slide it up and down to adjust the strap when necessary. I carried the bag in heavy rain and thought it would be okay as its advertised as waterproof. the top flap did protect my items very well, but the shoulder strap was soaked! I think Timbuk2 should look at making some changes to make the bag even better. Unfortunately, i think I will have to continue to look for a bag to better suit my needs, because this one didn't do it for me. The bag does look great, as I have received a lot of comments on how stylish and compact it looks. Perhaps a bit too compact for my use. For weekends, it works well, but not for when I'm heading to the gym and to work afterwards.

Received the black candy bar as a gift, and I want to comment on one aspect of this product that absolutely wows me -- when in has stuff in it, it stands up! I'm always looking for bags and backpacks with this feature because I like to take my knitting with me. This pack stands up beautifully and balances very nicely. How about doing this one custom?

      Comments about Candybar Backpack:

The backpack is perfect for my daily commute to work. It has a big front pocket with an organizer inside and a key faub. There's also a small hidden side pocket for easy access, which I use for my office entry card. The bag looks stylish and compact though there's lots of room inside. The only thing that I wish to have is a way of closing the main compartment shut, with a Velcro piece or zipper or whatever, so that no one can reach into the bag from the side. Also, the straps are very long and there's nothing to clip or tug them in. When I carry the backpack on one shoulder, the remaining part of the strap can almost touch the ground.

      Comments about Candybar Backpack:

I bought this bag to commute to school with. It's cute and I like the pockets. But the waterbottle holder on the inside keeps binders and books from sliding in easily, and if a waterbottle is in the holder the binder just doesn't fit (it's a one inch binder). I wonder after class, while trying to get things back into the bag, will I make it to my bus on time?

        Comments about Candybar Backpack:

As woman who commutes by bus and by walking, and who doesn't want an over-the-shoulder bag, finding a backpack that fit my dimensions (I'm 5'5) which doesn't overwhelm me is hard. I have been searching for quite a while for a replacement for a 10+ year old stylish sport backpack that I have had mended repeatedly; decided it was time not only to stop repairing but to upgrade the look if at all possible. The company who made that backpack, while design-conscious, didn't have anything that would work for me do to my size, needs and my new desire for a more professional looking bag.

I tried out several different bags from a variety of makers, but it wasn't until I came across the Candybar (hard to search for women commuter backpacks on TImbuk2 FYI) that I had my answer.

I have been using it now for two weeks. My 13" laptop fits wonderfully (admittedly, I had to give up my Waterstreet sleeve and trust that titanium is an adequate defense—lol) and the bag is just the right size for my things, including my mason-jarred salad lunch. Originally worried about the straps being too small, not padded enough, or flimsy, but after two weeks, have found that fear to be unwarranted.

I would buy this again in a heartbeat, though probably in a different color (I bought one that looks great! but I worry about the white getting dirty and, as I am tired of being so conscious of where I am placing my bag.)
