We're Timbuk2 and we're honored to provide custom Timbuk2 messenger bags for the 2013 TED Fellows Retreat. Rather than giving you a standard issue retreat bag you'll never use and wish you didn't have to deal with, we're welcoming you to customize a Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag. Your bag will be hand-made in San Francisco and is guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Once you have your custom messenger in your hot hands, the two of you can cycle through the city, jet from Seoul to Shanghai, trek up a mountain, crush deals at the office, picnic in the park, or tote your tiny pup. You'd be surprised what messenger bags get up to . . . whatsinyourbag.com.
Customize the bag on timbuk2.com , we'll sew it in our San Francisco factory, and you'll pick it up at TED Fellows Retreat registration. Ready? Here we go:

Timbuk2 is a San Francisco original. We were founded in a San Francisco garage in 1989 by a bike messenger named Rob Honeycutt and have continuously manufactured in the city's Mission District ever since. Rob made products that served his needs as a messenger, but it was never that simple. He had huge drive, a knack for brand, and an obsession with just-in-time manufacturing. Timbuk2 brought customization to the masses, selling custom messengers to bike shops in the 90's and launching the first online customizer in 1999. Our product offering has grown to include luggage and laptop bags, but the made-in-San-Francisco custom messenger remains our iconic style and the heart and soul of our company.
The TED Fellows program recognizes extraordinary, iconoclastic individuals at work on world-changing ideas, offering them tools to amplify the power of their vision. Each year, TED selects a group of 40 Fellows, inviting them to a private Fellows conference in conjunction with either TED or TEDGlobal. The Fellows conference offers skill-building courses taught by world experts, an opportunity to network with the Fellows community, and the chance to present their own work to the TED community in an onstage talk, which is filmed and considered for TED.com. At the end of the fellowship year, TED selects ten Fellows to participate in an extended two-year Senior Fellowship — bringing them to five consecutive conferences.
While TED focuses on attracting applicants living or working in the Asia-Pacific region, Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East, the fellowship considers applicants from all over the globe. TED seeks remarkable thinkers and doers who have shown unusual accomplishment, exceptional courage, moral imagination, and the potential to create positive change in their respective fields — including technology, entertainment, design, science, film, art, music, entrepreneurship, the NGO community and beyond.
As part of the fellowship, TED2014 Fellows will join the TED community in Vancouver, BC, Canada for TED2014, March 17 — 21, 2014, where they will attend as full conference participants, preceded by a three-day Fellows conference designed especially to inspire, empower and support their work. At this conference, Fellows will enjoy valuable skill-building workshops and deliver a short talk to the TED community, to be filmed and considered for TED.com. Learn more here.
