We've Got You Covered

Timbuk2's Lifetime Warranty

Timbuk2 products have a lifetime warranty; we stand behind the legendary quality and craftsmanship of all our products. Our warranty is valid only when the Timbuk2 product is purchased through Timbuk2 directly (via timbuk2.com or one of our brick-and-mortar retail stores) or through an Authorized Reseller.

We also embrace the wild, twisty ways of life. If there is a defect in the materials or workmanship we will repair  the bag at our discretion. Damages not covered are those resulting from abuse, normal wear and tear, accidential damage, and cosmetic damages that do not affect the functionality of the bag (such as scratches or stained fabrics). Any damage to, loss of the contents of a bag, loss of use, loss of time, or similar expenses are not covered. The lifetime warranty also does not include our apparel products, such as Timbuk2 t-shirts and hoodies.

Your Timbuk2 bag is sewn by hand and might contain some slight imperfections. Like Daniel Craig or Marilyn Monroe, the slight imperfections are what add character to an already awesome product.

Warranty & Repair FAQ

What is covered by the warranty?

Manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship are covered, notwithstanding age. If there is a defect in the materials or workmanship we will repair the bag at our discretion.
*If your product arrived defective from Timbuk2.com please email Customer Service and we'll move mountains to right your wrong.

What is not covered by the warranty?

Damages not covered are those resulting from abuse, normal wear and tear, cosmetic issues that do not affect the functionality of the bag, and accidental damage. Any damage to or loss of contents of a bag, loss of use, loss of time, or similar expenses are not covered.  Unless a product is designed and stated to be machine washable, washing bags in washing machines can result in damage not covered by our warranty.

Wear and tear is damage that naturally and inevitably occurs as a result of normal use. Regardless of how carefully you use, or how well you care for your bag, it will eventually begin to show age and wear. Usual wear and tear not covered by the lifetime warranty includes changes in color, abrasions, and general breakdown of materials over time.  Some examples of common wear and tear include color fading from sun exposure, worn elastic, and fabric wear, especially in high wear areas such as corners, reflective binding, worn velcro, and worn shoulder or back padding. Some examples of accidential damage are rips or cuts in fabric, animals chewing or clawing on our products, as well as damage arising from airline abuse such as bent or dented luggage handles or damaged/cracked wheels & bottomplates.

What products aren’t covered by your fabulous warranty?

Any headwear, apparel or footwear. Third party attachments and or devices like the Joey power packs or NiteIze blinky lights, or Blue bottle kit accessories like scales, grinders, or cups. Any other third party accessories sold by Timbuk2 but not bearing the Timbuk2 brand.  The items are generally warrantied by their respective manufacturers.

Warranty & Repair Process

North America Warranty or Repair Claim Details

Step 1 - Please select the appropriate link and check out to start a repair claim:

Please keep in mind that the repair fee payment is held as a pending authorization only - and will never be charged unless the damage or nature of the repair request is not covered under warranty and the bag can be repaired.

After checking out, you will receive an email with instructions and a form to print out. A repair number will be generated and will need to be included with the bag when you send it in for repairs.

Step 2 - Send us the bag with the Repair number

Please send the bag to the address provided in the repair details email. Be sure to write your repair number on the outside of your package. We recommend using the least expensive shipping method that will provide you with a tracking number and insurance. Timbuk2 is not responsible for parcels lost in transit. Your repair fee covers the return shipping in the lower 48 United States.

  • Package up your bag, include a copy of the repair form with a description of the concern(s).
  • Write the repair number on the outside of the package  (W-XXXXXXX).

Please keep in mind that California State law requires that all items accepted for repair be freshly cleaned. You wouldn't want to dig through someone else's nasty, so help us provide a clean and safe environment for our employees. If we determine that your bag needs to be cleaned, we will return it to you without preforming the repair(s). We do not offer cleaning services. For more information on how to properly clean and maintain your awesome Timbuk2 bag, please see Bag Care.

Step 3 - Evaluation / Repair

Once your item arrives, our repair team will be evaluate your claim within 7-10 business days and determine if the issues can be repaired and what is covered under the Lifetime Warranty.  Because pictures don't tell the whole story, and we want to give your claim the best possible evaluation, warranty assessemnts are only preformed in person once our repair team receives your bag.

  •      If the claim issues are covered by the lifetime warranty, we will waive the authorization fee and repair your product.
  •      If any repairable claim issues are not covered by the lifetime warranty, we will charge the authorization fee and repair your product.

Not sure your bag can be repaired, please contact us.

Outside of North America Warranty Repair?

If you purchased your bag outside of the USA and Canada, please contact us for local representatives that will offer you warranty services. Please provide your proof of purchase and the location for the bag when submitting your claim.  Should your bag require service in the USA, shipping to and from the USA for your Timbuk2 item are your responsibility.

Comments about Especial Raider Backpack:

Great ultra lightweight bag, sits well on my 5'5" frame. Fits perfectly in a locker (has a hook for hanging) and I use it as my work out bag. Smart-looking, easy to clean. Internal shoe pockets are handy and work well for cycling cleats but are a bit snug for bigger shoes. Internal clothes organizer a bit snug unless you have just a few small items. I had to use a small organizing pouch for toiletries because it does not have another pocket inside but this way it works well. External pockets w elastic hold a water bottle and other items very well. Outside zipper pocket w lanyard holds all the little stuff: tissues, gum, membership card, small wallet.

It is a great locker bag, but I would not recommend it as a bike commuter bag while carrying a heavy load, it is too lightweight a construction to sit comfortably on your back packed with many pounds.

Very handsome looking in the all black version.

Would not pay full price for this bag but on sale it's a great buy!

    Comments about Especial Raider Backpack:

Didn't actually purchase for cycle commuting. GF started drinking coffee. Needed new lightweight pack with 2 external sleeves for coffee thermoses. Boom! Has that, plus a pair of sleeves inside for cycling shoes, but which we sometimes use for bottles of water/juice. Also love the long red cord to secure keys, as well as the internal hook to hang the thing from a closet bar. Don't use the internal clothes folding thing, but darn...that's clever! I leave the plastic board in to provide a little rigid back and to protect computer/ipad.

This bag is awesome. I am an elementary school teacher and I have a laptop messenger bag from Timbuk2- it's stylish and perfectly sized for my MacBook Pro and all of the teacher stuff I need to carry every day. I am so happy that I got myself the Especial Raider Backpack for all of my outside adventures too, mainly gym clothes and cycling. Can't say enough about how much I love Timbuk2 products- they are so worth the money.

I use the pack everyday cycling to work.
I do boxing afterwork most days so the two shoe pockets are just great for my trainers and the bag has a deceiving amount of room I'm able to fit my jeans, shirt and gym towel along with a bunch of other random things.
The top pocket is where I store my phone, wallet and I use the fob for my bike lock key which has enough reach for this purpose.
The stretch pockets are amazing as they are easily reached while cycling almost like your wearing a jersey, I sometimes even pop my phone in them if I need it while cycling.
The bag is amazing just buy it.

I bought two for a trip, one for me, one for my partner. Within five days, one of the bags got a rip in the front pocket, in the front, not a seam or a zipper. It's not like the bag was abused either! I was told the bag wouldn't be covered by the warranty. Se la vie, whatever. I won't buy anything from this company again. There are better travel bags out there.

Also the front pockets are useless, too loose and small.

                  Comments about Especial Raider Backpack:

I have long wanted to try this pack but never pulled the trigger until a recent sale made it silly not too.

When I first received it I thought it maybe wouldn't suit my needs but I have been very impressed with the bag so far. I use it to haul groceries at the moment as cycling in the snow and ice is better balanced with a backpack than a messenger when hauling awkward items.

I've also used it on several 7 mile trail hikes, runs, and a snow shoeing trip. It's lightweight, very comfortable, and carries just what I need ably without a bunch of frill features.

I already own the rain cover so it's lack of water resistance isn't an issue for me. The rain cover is worth it's price, I use it on my messenger bag as well. Not so much for keeping the contents dry, but so not to have to dry the bag out while traveling or carrying a dripping wet bag into work when getting caught in heavy rains.

The bag is very lightweight, which is a feature I didn't really think I'd care as much about as I do. That's why it makes a great trail running/hiking pack. The water bottle / external access pockets are stretchy and secure, the shoe pockets inside also double as bottle carriers and organizers for food/snacks/etc allowing the main hold for jackets and sweaters while not having to have to dig for smaller items and snacks.

The helmet attachment is genius and I am impressed beyond words by the design of the bag.

Now an official winner of the International Design Excellence Award!
We earned a Silver Award in the Personal Accessories category from the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Designed in collaboration with San Francisco's Mission Cycling Club, the Raider Pack frees you to get in a pre-work ride without weighing you down.
Weighing less than a pound, the Raider Pack was named after Mission Cycling's morning "raids" up to the to the top of the Marin Headlands before work. Cooked up over a post-ride breakfast at a San Francisco neighborhood café, Timbuk2 and Mission Cycling were sweaty, tired, and sick of carrying their street clothes in bulky backpacks built for hiking. Understanding the need for a small, lightweight commuter pack that could hold the day's essentials without slowing down the pre-work ride, this pack was born.
