Timbuk2's Lifetime Warranty

Timbuk2 products have a lifetime warranty; we stand behind the legendary quality and craftsmanship of all our products. Our warranty is valid only when the Timbuk2 product is purchased through Timbuk2 directly (via or one of our brick-and-mortar retail stores) or through an Authorized Reseller.

We also embrace the wild, twisty ways of life. If there is a defect in the materials or workmanship we will repair  the bag at our discretion. Damages not covered are those resulting from abuse, normal wear and tear, accidential damage, and cosmetic damages that do not affect the functionality of the bag (such as scratches or stained fabrics). The lifetime warranty also does not include our apparel products, such as Timbuk2 t-shirts and hoodies.

Your Timbuk2 bag is sewn by hand and might contain some slight imperfections. Like Daniel Craig or Marilyn Monroe, the slight imperfections are what add character to an already awesome product.

Warranty & Repair FAQ

What is covered by the warranty?

Manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship are covered, notwithstanding age. If there is a defect in the materials or workmanship we will repair the bag at our discretion.
*If your product arrived defective from please email Customer Service and we'll move mountains to right your wrong.

What is not covered by the warranty?

Damages not covered are those resulting from abuse, normal wear and tear, cosmetic issues that do not affect the functionality of the bag, and accidental damage. Any damage to or loss of contents of a bag, loss of use, loss of time, or similar expenses are not covered.  Unless a product is designed and stated to be machine washable, washing bags in washing machines can result in damage not covered by our warranty.

Wear and tear is damage that naturally and inevitably occurs as a result of normal use. Regardless of how carefully you use, or how well you care for your bag, it will eventually begin to show age and wear. Usual wear and tear not covered by the lifetime warranty includes changes in color, abrasions, and general breakdown of materials over time.  Some examples of common wear and tear include color fading from sun exposure, worn elastic, and fabric wear, especially in high wear areas such as corners, reflective binding, worn velcro, and worn shoulder or back padding. Some examples of accidential damage are rips or cuts in fabric, animals chewing or clawing on our products, as well as damage arising from airline abuse such as bent or dented luggage handles or damaged/cracked wheels & bottomplates.

What products aren’t covered by your fabulous warranty?

Any headwear, apparel or footwear. Third party attachments and or devices like the Joey power packs or NiteIze blinky lights, or Blue bottle kit accessories like scales, grinders, or cups. Any other third party accessories sold by Timbuk2 but not bearing the Timbuk2 brand.  The items are generally warrantied by their respective manufacturers.

Perfect bag for folks who carry a lot

Tres review I've had my Especial Tres for a couple years now and it continually proves to be one of the best purchases I've ever made. I commute daily by bike and run 95% of my errands by bike. * It's kept my stuff dry in some pretty torrential downpours (except when I forgot to zip up the side zipper all the way) * It's comfortable to ride with during my 5 to 10 mile bike commutes (although if it's really packed then watch out for the blind spots). The padding on the straps and back-panel are great. * it works great for multi-day trips (and still fit underneath the seat in front of me if I don't pack too much) * it can fit a ton of stuff for when you're out running errands: packages, groceries, Target runs. Just the other day I was at the grocery store and as I loaded up my bag with about 5 days worth of groceries the clerk said, "whoa, that bag is huge!". My only comment to potential buyers is that being such a voluminous bag means that it's physically pretty large for an everyday bag. I commute with a 15" laptop, shoes, a full change of clothes, my lunch, u-lock, spare tube and mini-pump, and I can still stop at the store and pick up a bunch of groceries. However, it's not as large as some of the big bags you see couriers riding with. The roll-top and straps cinch the top down really well and compact. I just wish they had some cinch straps near the bottom.

Poor materials quality, warranty, and customer service

This is a great bag, but reliability and customer service issues prevent me from recommending it. The good This is a roomy bag, but it also cinches down in size when you don't need the full capacity. It features a large main pocket (with laptop sleeve), a front pocket with organizers, a small front pocket, and a document pocket, so it's easy to keep your items organized. In months of commuting in Seattle rain, it kept my stuff dry and secure. It's also incredibly comfortable to wear. I switched to this bag from a messenger bag, since a backpack was clearly going to be better for my shoulders and back. I love how messenger bags open up to make it easy to get things in and out and to find items inside. I ordered this bag in blue, and the combination of the large opening, organizing pockets, and red interior fabric made it easy to find and access items so that I didn't miss my messenger bag that much. The bad After just about six months, the mesh on the back of the bag wore away in parts (see photo) -- this damage was small but spreading. I contacted Timbuk2 for repair. I was originally (after a two week delay) told that this kind of damage is not covered by warranty. I appealed and they agreed (after another two weeks) to cover it. I sent the bag in for repair only to learn after six weeks that they could not complete the repair and were sending the damaged bag back. This is despite sending in photos of the damage with the initial warranty request. It's surprising that Timbuk2 was both (a) reluctant to stand behind their product and (b) unable to accurately assess whether they can repair it. In this case, it meant weeks of using an old bag while waiting for repairs, only to get a damaged bag back.

Super high-quality and durability

I usually open the roll-top of the pack when I reach my destination and put my helmet on top, as shown in photo. This highly water-proof pack is made to withstand decades of abuse. Has lots of organization and a cavernous main compartment, yet still fits in the lockers at the gym and the pool. My vintage Surly 1x1 with fat 26" tires in the background.

Super high-quality and durability

This bag is not a day to day go to bag

By the time you unbuckle and unroll the top it takes your whole arm to reach the bottom. It does not lend its self well to being organized. It's my bad I read similar reviews and thought I was not going to be a big deal. If you adventure in the rain a lot this bag might be a good fit. I have bought three timbuk2 bags and loved them and have my eye on the new Armory, hopefully that is a better fit.

Life Changing Backpack

I use this backpack every day. It's 5 miles each way to work, and this thing holds my laptop, work clothes, gym clothes, two pairs of shoes, and lunch! Coming from a former North Face backpack user, this bag is so roomy and comfortable that I'll never go back. It's been a notoriously rainy season in SF and this bag never fails to keep all my goods dry. Has a nice side quick-access pocket for my phone+keys during my rides. Semi-spacious front pocket fits my laptop charger and accessories like wallet, sunglasses, and pens/pencils. 10/10 would recommend for the average bike commuter.

Great Backpack for City Biking

I love this backpack. It's well-constructed and feels good on my back when riding. Unlike most messenger bags, it stays put even when I'm struggling to get up steep hills. The backpack is roomy and I can fit pretty much all of my winter gear with room left over. The only complaint I would have is that the organizer in the front pocket is pretty useless. There's not enough sections for my taste and items regularly slip out of their place and end up in a jumble inside the pocket. However, this gripe is not enough for me to take even a star off my rating. It's a great backpack. Highly recommended.

Everything and More

I have been riding in some very heavy rainfall lately in the sf bay area and this bag holds up great against the weather. I've been under heavy rain fall for 2 hours on a ride and my personal belongings were kept completely safe and dry. At first I thought the roll top would be a bit of a hassle, but you shortly get used to it and the side access is being put to great use as well. I wish the rain would slide off the bag a bit more, when I come inside after a rainy outing, I usually always have to wipe off rain drops with a rag, or else the drops will stay on bag for a long time.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
