Comments about Especial Vuelo Cycling Laptop Backpack:

This backpack is my daily bike commute bag. It is comfortable folded to its smallest size, with only a change of clothes. It is equally comfortable and balanced carrying 25 pounds of groceries. All the straps and closures appear to be of high quality, and simple...very few moving parts to break. Every day I love this bag more!

Comments about Especial Vuelo Cycling Laptop Backpack:

I'm average size woman and bike commute everyday in Portland, OR. This bag looks good and well made but absolutely useless for daily use. I load mine up with computer etc and the waist strap can't take any weight. The strap is too thin and lightwieght. When you sit it on or under your desk the bag does not stand up no matter how much stuff is in it and always falls over. That is the most annoying thing about this bag. Its too tall and thin for regular business use in and out of the office. I really want to love this bag but it just annoys me everytime I use it. The shoulder straps are too wide and doesn't hug my back. They want to slide off so I'm always tightening the straps but then it's pulling my arms back.

Comments about Especial Vuelo Cycling Laptop Backpack:

I think the other reviews have really covered the pros and cons very well so this is by no means comprehensive.

On the whole I am really organized and resent bags that force me to put my stuff into compartments where the size has been predesignated. My stuff never fits and it never follows a logical flow so I struggle to find it, so I love Timbuk2 for this bag and I would never complain about it. It really is as close to perfect as any bag I have never owned but in the interest of constructive criticism I would offer the following suggestions for future versions.

While I disagree that the bag needs more pockets I do think that the small pocket behind the pen/pencil holders needs to have a Velcro closure. The backpack does not usually stand up on its own, which is no big deal but when it slides down every tiny think I put in the pocket moves around and when I reach in from the side I do not find it where I left it.

Because I access this pocket from the side and top, if I was prototyping I would try mounting the pocket divider section at an angle that allowed for easier access from either direction or maybe consider a more textured material for the backing so that I was not required to clip my pens into place.

Comments about Especial Vuelo Cycling Laptop Backpack:

Very weatherproof, but the straps dig into shoulders if there is a lot of weight in the bag. They are a little close together the the top attachment point.
The pocket on the front is very large and therefore hard to find things like pens etc quickly.
The double water bottle pockets on the sides are awesome. Reflective. Chest strap is helpful for weight distribution.
        Overall I love this bag.

        Make it in more colors!

Comments about Especial Vuelo Cycling Laptop Backpack:

I have a long bike commute, and my shoulder bag was starting to hurt my back. This bag is comfortable, large, and distributes weight very well. Back pain improved immediately. In general, I like the bag a lot. Like all the Timbuk2 bags I've used, it's attractive and well constructed. I got used to the large single central storage area in a hurry. There is plenty of room for a change of clothes, lunch and other bits and pieces. I can keep a mini-U lock and heavy cable in the side pockets and they stay put. My only real complaint is that there is only one smaller pocket for wallet, keys, etc. It's tough to stay organized in there. I ended up getting a small bag for my lunch and may get some other small soft container for personal effects, just so things can be segregated from each other a little. Good bag. Comfortable. You'll just have to get a little creative if you're a nitpicky organizer like certain reviewers writing this review.

Comments about Especial Vuelo Cycling Laptop Backpack:

I use this as a day-to-day bag for commuting to work. I have to walk about 20-25min. to work carrying lunch, water, coffee, shoes, and gym clothes - so lots! And this bag makes it super easy. Love all the straps, especially the waist one, and it's beyond comfortable despite all the weight. I'm also a big fan that the top of the main section can adjust based on how much you stuff in there, which allows for it to be smaller and compact when there's not as much in it. My only complaint is that there isn't quite enough pockets for things. All my little things I carry every day get lost in the big section and the zippered front section is just the same. I ended up having to use smaller bags to store the little things that I can just throw in the big pockets. But overall I love it!

Comments about Especial Vuelo Cycling Laptop Backpack:

All in all a VERY well executed pack. If there was a key holder...like a string with a clip, and a smaller pocket near the top for some minor things so you don't have to dig to the bottom of your pack for the smaller items, this would be PERFECT.....right now its about 90% perfect which places it well above almost every pack out there for daily commutes. Oh...and the fact my U-lock and 2ndary cable lock fits on each side pouch really a blessing.

Comments about Especial Vuelo Cycling Laptop Backpack:

I'm an undergraduate student without a vehicle, so I commute exclusively by bike and occasional walking. In researching backpacks, I was looking for a bag that was waterproof, compact, lightweight, and most importantly, comfortable. This bag meets those needs.

I've made it from class to home (about a mile and a half commute) in torrential downpour using this bag without a problem. Meanwhile, other friends had soaked notebooks and broken phones due to the rain.

I am very pleased with the fit and weight-distribution of the Especial Vuelo. The arched back frame is shaped to create breathing space between your back and the bag, keeping the user cool and preventing sweating during heavy use. The dense foam straps felt strange on my shoulders at first, but pretty soon I got used to it and it's no longer an issue (I've had this bag for 10 months). It's so compact I barely notice I'm wearing the bag sometimes. I removed the optional waist and sternum straps as I felt them to be unnecessary for daily use (they might be better suited for hiking/backpacking).

The main pouch is quite large, making it versatile for many different uses. For school, the laptop pouch securely fits my 13" HP laptop while textbooks, folders, and even my bike helmet can be stored in the main pouch at the same time. The blue interior is not only stylish, but makes it very easy to see the contents of my bag when full. In addition to school use, I've taken this bag on week-long adventures, as well as weekend camping and canoeing trips. I can fit 5 days of clothes rolled up, a heavy picnic blanket, and extra food storage in these cases. Attach a sleeping bag and inflatable pad and you've got a nice backpacking pack.

The front zipper pocket is nice for accessing small/ medium items such as iPad 2, Nook HD, laptop charging cord, and a journal - most of which can be accessed quickly via the side zipper - but the small opening makes it difficult to access the iPad without opening the top flap. An iPad mini would be great in this case.

The two exterior water bottle pockets are great for holding my water bottle or 16oz coffee thermos on-the-go. They fit snugly and are placed nicely so I don't have to take the bag completely off my back to use them. I also sometimes use the second exterior pouch to hold my wallet and phone.

As others have mentioned, my one complaint is the lack of small storage organization. A single side pocket to hold my phone and charging cables, or an appropriate pens/pencil pouch would have been an excellent addition to this bag. But this in and of itself would not stop me from recommending this bag. Knowing what I know now I would still make this purchase again against other brands and other timbuk2 commuter bags. It is an all-around workhorse that can handle whatever I put it up against.
