Comments about Especial Vuelo Cycling Laptop Backpack:

I bike to school everyday and bought the Especial Vuelo as a volume increase from my Timbuk2 Command Messenger bag. The bag was very rigid at first and the straps was uncomfortable and scratched my neck but once I wore it in it fits very snugly, which is good because you want it to be super tight and close to your body without swinging around while cycling. Capacity is okay, the top is expandable to carry more stuff. However, it only has two compartments- the main compartment which I put my books, laptop, clothes and the small items/organizer compartment is actually too deep to actually see or organize anything, the side zip access kind of helps but not too much. the two side pockets for water bottle and bike lock could use an increased elasticity and volume. A big flaw is that you think that the velcro flap will stay down but if you have too much stuff in it, it will "zraappp" right open. There was one time I was walking around with my bag completely open and I was unaware of it. I almost always had to use the buckle feature now since I do put 2 textbooks plus my laptop in it. Oh and it will only carry that much: 2 textbooks, and a laptop, which is good enough for me. With all that said, after the pros and cons, I'm beginning to really like this bag, it does have it's cons but it looks like it will serve me for a long time and will be a reliable bag.

Comments about Especial Vuelo Cycling Laptop Backpack:

This bag has a very low-profile on your back. Creates a nice aerodynamic feel on a bike. Also, if you're on a train and in a crowd, you don't have to worry about the bag knocking over the person next to you. When I see people with commuter bags by Chrome, I think to myself "ha ha... I got a better bag!"

Comments about Especial Vuelo Cycling Laptop Backpack:

This is a simple bag but it hits all the right notes for a useful and practical Every Day Carry commuter for biking or travel. The main point of interest is the opening system- Its a kind of short flap that can be used in 4 ways. Obviously, you can just seal the flap over with the hook and loop strips, though it may start to rip open a little if the bag is heavily loaded. If there is bad weather and you want the closure a little more secure, you can close the flap a little higher, roll it over, and then use the center strap to cinch it into place. Another version of this that I prefer is to tuck the front of the flap under itself and then roll, which doesn't engage the velcro, so you don't have to RIP it open later. Lastly, the design allows for expansion, because when fully loaded, the tip of the flap laid flat will just barely make it to the edge of the velcro providing a lot more volume, and you can still use the center strap to secure it all. The nice thing about these options is that they keep the bag compact in depth, automatically adjusting to the volume of what is inside without the need for compression straps.
Otherwise, the bag is pretty basic- just two compartments and a laptop sleeve in the main one. The front one can be a little annoying to dig around in, since everything falls to the bottom, but at least you can access it from the top or the side. Its nice to have 2 decent elastic bottle pockets on the sides so you can switch where you want the bottle, or carry both a bottle and a U-Lock. As for the fabric- its a mix; it seems like they threw every cool tech-looking fabric at this bag and there is a lot going on. I like the feel of the "hammered" nylon, and it seems to be waterproof, but I don't like how the textured surface soaks in and retains water for much longer than the other materials used on a bag meant to used in the rain. The back panel is semi rigid and very comfortable. The overall package feels durable while being lighter and easier to use than other bags in this category and price point. Recommended.
