Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I am a beginner when it comes to the bike commuting thing. I was looking for a bag I could hook to my bike rack, and yet be versatile enough that I could use it even if I wasn't riding my bike. This is just right. It has plenty of room for the things I always tend to carry with me, I can hook it on my bike or sling it over my shoulder. I love the bright blue and was pleasantly suprised by the 'sunrise stripe' interior lining to the pockets. I haven't found anything about it that I don't like yet.

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

This bag is awesome in that it's so multi-functional - pannier that's easy to use/get at i.e. convert; tote; over the shoulder bag; and it doesn't look like a pannier. All great. BUT, it's too small. Like many others said, a 13 inch laptop barely fits and there's not much room left for other stuff. Also the bag is really slim so if you carry a lot of extra stuff in your inside messenger bag pocket like I do (hairbrush, contacts, inhaler, pens, sunglasses, and other misc. junk) it will fill up the space in the bag really fast. Are these a deal breaker for me? No. Am I still using the bag and enjoying it? Yes, totally.

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I read a lot of reviews before buying this bag, and I agree with a lot of what I read. I love this bag, it's nice looking, easy to clip on, good quality. It's a strange size. It's almost big enough to be a good work/school bag, but about 1" too small to fit a 13" laptop. If it were just a little wider, big enough to fit a laptop, it would be a perfect awesome bag. Please make a bigger one Timbuk2!!

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I use this bag as a general purse for everyday use. I don't have a car so I bike everywhere and really wanted a bag I could attach/remove from my bike easily because just about everything is stolen off of bikes that are locked up. I also wanted something that was easy to carry when I run errands. I love it for this purpose. It clips to my rack (although the velcro strap doesn't attach to my rack) and pulls off easily.

I also commute about 15 minutes (one-way) to work. It is an ideal size for this. It carries all my essential purse contents plus my lunch or a light jacket. It's not designed for laptops, but my tablet fits nicely.

The weight of the bag is my biggest complaint. The bag itself is quite heavy and when adding contents (especially a U-lock) I can really feel the weight pulling my bike on the side it's attached too. This would probably vary depending on what type of bike you use. I use a lightweight road bike so I can really tell a difference, but a hybrid or cyclocross type bike may be fine. Also, it gets quite heavy as a shoulder bag when walking long distances (even without the U-lock). I live in San Francisco so my feet and my bike are my primary mode of transportation, so I'm talking about walking 1+miles with this bag over my shoulder. Also it would have been nice if the center compartment had a divider in it so it didn't turn into a bottomless pit when I'm looking for something.

Overall, it is a good bag. It has a few little problems, but nothing I can't live with. It's by far better than any other pannier I've tried because of it's easy conversion to a shoulder bag.

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

Ditto the other reviews - I REALLY wanted this to bag to go from the bike to the board meeting and beyond. I have a 13 inch MacBook Air that I commute daily with, but I bought this anyway in hopes that it would fit. My laptop *barely* fits with a few documents and a slim notebook. I hope the fabric gives a little more with use. The number and size of compartments is great, has some well-thought features, is really well made, and is much lighter weight than the panniers I need to retire. The rainy season has not started yet so I''ll probably have to go back to the no-pocket panniers I also would like to retire because the zipper is sitting tight against my laptop.

Timbuk2 - there are some great features with this bag, but please take the other reviewer suggestions and make this multiple sizes and colors. Please add in a splash cover for the really soggy days.

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I was looking for a bag that i could use for everything...biking, walking and as just a purse. This bag is perfect for all 3. Plus, i'm not switching back and forth from my purse to a big panier bag all the time.

It looks great too! Perfect for office or play.

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I really like where they were headed with this bag (hidden clips, pull tabs, nice fabric, slim handles, stealth bike bag aesthetic), but I returned it bc my 13" MacBook Air won't fit at all.

My ideal bag would have similar styling but have a separate compartment for a laptop, be oriented east-west for easier access & organization.

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I emailed Timbuk2 to ask if my 13" MacBook Air would fit and they said yes. It does fit, but barely - I can barely zip the bag (the computer doesn't have a case or sleeve) and it makes the bag too stiff to hold that much other stuff. Without the computer, it can hold sneakers, gym clothes, and a lunchbox, but with it only the gym clothes.

I'll just use this for miscellaneous trips and not commuting like I was hoping. But it's well-built and looks much better than a normal pannier (plus it's so easy to carry!)

Getting it on/off is a breeze and it doesn't rattle around.

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I wanted to love this bag as I've been a Timbuk2 fan for ages. But the width of the bag is too narrow for my Toba Robin bike rack; it fits in between the rack struts, which means it sometimes comes into contact with my rear wheel. The placement of the strap between the clips isn't any use with my rack as there isn't anything to strap them to.

The bag is very waterproof, and the number of pockets is impressive. It's beautifully made, and the colourful striped lining is cheerful and durable. But it's better suited for small, slim items, not big bulky ones. A sweater or top layer, a slim wallet, and your lunch will fit fine, but you'll struggle to add anything more than that. And forget stopping at the market on the way home with your everyday kit in your bag - your shopping won't fit.

If you don't need to carry a lot of gear on a daily basis, this bag could be perfect. If your rack struts are narrow like on an Avenir or Wald rack, it'll also work very well. All others might want to consider another option.

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

Of all the attempts at a pannier that works as an off-the-bike bag I've ever seen, this is the best. It's stylish, comfortable to carry, relatively easy to get on and off the rack, and the pannier clips zip away nicely so I don't even know they're there. But: the bag is a lot smaller than I was expecting! It's more like a large-ish purse than the small messenger bag I was hoping for, and it doesn't quite hold everything I need for my day. If it were about 25% bigger, it would be perfect. (And while we're talking ifonlys, I'd also dig a larger color selection. Thankfully the grey is darker than it appears in the photos, but classic black would be nice, too!)
