Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I use this to bike to work on days when I don't change at the office (casual commuting). I had to add a piece of foam-core to the inside of the bag near the rack attachments to make the bag sturdier to prevent it from mushing in and rubbing on my spokes. Overall, I think the bag is great and helps to limit the "you-bike-here" looks I get when I commute to meetings during the work day when I want to be extra professional. I would probably purchase again, but wish it was easier to get on/off my rack and was a slightly more attractive color. All in all a good bag that I use frequently.

    Poor clip design

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

Alright, I've had some time to cool off. I used this bag for the first time today and it fell off my rack twice and after securing it to the rack by the straps with a carabiner, it fell off and got wedged between the wheel and the rack. Even the smallest bump will cause this bag to fly off your bike.

While the overall bag quality is okay. It's lacking 2 things I look for in a bag. 1. Rugged clipping mechanism. There is no way these clips last a month. They are that cheap plastic which you know will break. 2. A rigid backplate. When this bag is on my rack the bottom inside corners are loose and bend and eventually start hitting the tire.

Sorry Timbuk2, but I wouldn't even sell this bag as it currently is. Thankfully my MacBook only suffered some minor cosmetic damage as result of this design.

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I use this bag for commuting to work. I've had it for a little over a year and so far it's been okay (mostly for lack of finding something comprable that's better). I bought it because I loved the idea of a purse-like bag that I could attach to my bike (eliminating the need for a pannier and a purse).

The biggest problem is the clip design. The clips are detachable, but also do not lock onto the bike. If your rack as a verticle pole then you can use the velcro attachment, but mine doesn't have one, so I only have the clips. I have had several times where I nearly lost the bag. Sometimes it will just pop off of the rack (usually after hitting a bump), but I've had other times where the clips just detach (for no reason I could find). I also worry about someone walking up and snatching it off the back of my bike while I'm stopped at a light (thankfully it hasn't happened yet despite the unsavory neigborhoods I commute through).

Also it doesn't hold very much for it's size. This is probably due to the scooped zipper on top. It's just slightly too small to zip up a standard sized notebook and I can't fit my mackbook air (11") unless it's the only thing in the bag. This makes the bag pretty useless as a general buisness bag.

I hate riding with things on my back because I get sweaty, but I would love for this bag to be redesigned to be more practical for multi-use.

Poorly designed; falls off while riding

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I'm heartbroken that I have to return this bag. It's a beautiful, attractive pannier that you could just as easily use as a shoulder bag. Unfortunately, the clips were very poorly designed causing it to fall off while riding.

I bought it for my commute to/from work which is about 7.5 miles each way. I generally packed it with my laptop, a small lunch, a change of clothes, and my wallet/phone. The laptop adds some weight, but nothing a standard pannier can't handle.

The first time the bag fell off my bike was on my commute home while riding downhill on the Manhattan Bridge. I was going pretty fast on the downhill (as most people do) and before I knew it my bag FLEW off my bike. It was rush hour, so there were tons of other riders on the bridge. THANKFULLY my bag didn't hit anyone or cause any crashes. Despite the incident, I continued using the bag and experienced at least a dozen more bag falls.

The problem is the clips. For whatever reason they designed them to be detachable, which serves absolutely no function. If the clips were NOT detachable and just melded to the bag, then the bag would be perfect! Also, the velcro piece ripped off during one of the many bag falls (see photo).

Such a bummer. Timbuk2, you're better than this!

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I was a bit skeptical to buy this based on some of the other reviews, but I was in need of a bag to commute to work. This bag suits my needs perfectly! It easily fits to my back bike rack. The additional velcro strap is a bit awkward to wrap around and secure, but it works. I've used this bag on a dozen or so trips to/from work (two miles each way). Even when I ride over bumpy sections of the street, the bag is secure and holds everything that I need (gym clothes, work clothes, wallet, etc). It's easy to get on and off and I really love that you can zip up the side to hide the clips that adhere to your bike.

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

This bag is exactly what I wanted and exactly what Timbuk2 said it was. Simple, reliable interaction with my bike rack. I can ride to work and then have a cute purse/should bag to carry around, instead of a bulky backpack or pannier. LOVE IT!!!!! Typical Timbuk2 high quality!

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I was looking for a smaller pannier -- most are so large and masculine -- I thought this was the perfect solution until the clips starting detaching and causing the bag to fall off my rack while I was biking. The problem only got worse -- even when the bag is not loaded with heavy items, it falls off. The clips do not stay hooked. I was so disappointed to have to return this! But I absolutely don't recommend it. It is extremely frustrating to have to pull off the road 10 times on your ride to re-attach the bag. I have had to carry it on my back to finish many commutes. I never write negative reviews but hoped I could save someone else some trouble -- Don't buy this!

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I was attracted to the bag because it had a shoulder strap and a flap to cover the clips. I don't particularly like being gouged by them when I am carring my bag. Although the bag is smaller than I need to fit my purse, clothes and lunch, I scaled down. But I still need to carry my lock and cable. On my fourth nine-mile commute to work, the clips detached from the bag when I go over bumps. Yesterday, the whole bag fell off the rack when I was walking my bike down three steps. Now I can't use it for a bike bag for commuting. The hunt for the perfect bike bag continues.

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

This product isn't large enough to use when commuting/shopping if you need to carry lots. That said, it's great for running around town and day cycling. The Velcro portion of the rack attachment is a bit cumbersome to use, I'd prefer some type of hook versus the Velcro. That said, it's a good bag and I'm happy with the purchase.

Comments about Moraga Shoulder Bag Pannier:

I bought this bag, as a new bicycle commuter, to get my load off my back while riding. I thought I bought a pannier but, in fact, I just bought a pretty (small) bag that is best worn as a messenger bag...on my back. The velcro strap attachment, as previous reviewers have noted, does not actually attach anywhere to my rack. However, the real deal breaker for me here is that the clips (to attach to my bike rack) are detachable! And they've detached while riding...several times...once significantly damaging the body of my laptop computer. I don't understand what the point of this design was since even when you detach the clips, a bulky piece is still left behind. This bag needs to have more secure clips and, also as previously noted, needs to be a little bigger. Pretty to look at.

The Moraga Pannier thrives on and off your bike. A fully-functional pannier with easy-to-use Quick Clip bike attachment, subtle reflective hits, and a water resistant liner, the Moraga is technically sound for on-bike adventures. But when you hop out of the saddle and into an appointment, the Moraga is coming with you. Its pannier panel zips away when not in use and she can be toted by the handles or worn over the shoulder. No one has to know you rode, but those who do will be impressed.
