We've Got You Covered

Timbuk2's Lifetime Warranty

Timbuk2 products have a lifetime warranty; we stand behind the legendary quality and craftsmanship of all our products. Our warranty is valid only when the Timbuk2 product is purchased through Timbuk2 directly (via timbuk2.com or one of our brick-and-mortar retail stores) or through an Authorized Reseller.

We also embrace the wild, twisty ways of life. If there is a defect in the materials or workmanship we will repair  the bag at our discretion. Damages not covered are those resulting from abuse, normal wear and tear, accidential damage, and cosmetic damages that do not affect the functionality of the bag (such as scratches or stained fabrics). Any damage to, loss of the contents of a bag, loss of use, loss of time, or similar expenses are not covered. The lifetime warranty also does not include our apparel products, such as Timbuk2 t-shirts and hoodies.

Your Timbuk2 bag is sewn by hand and might contain some slight imperfections. Like Daniel Craig or Marilyn Monroe, the slight imperfections are what add character to an already awesome product.

Warranty & Repair FAQ

What is covered by the warranty?

Manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship are covered, notwithstanding age. If there is a defect in the materials or workmanship we will repair the bag at our discretion.
*If your product arrived defective from Timbuk2.com please email Customer Service and we'll move mountains to right your wrong.

What is not covered by the warranty?

Damages not covered are those resulting from abuse, normal wear and tear, cosmetic issues that do not affect the functionality of the bag, and accidental damage. Any damage to or loss of contents of a bag, loss of use, loss of time, or similar expenses are not covered.  Unless a product is designed and stated to be machine washable, washing bags in washing machines can result in damage not covered by our warranty.

Wear and tear is damage that naturally and inevitably occurs as a result of normal use. Regardless of how carefully you use, or how well you care for your bag, it will eventually begin to show age and wear. Usual wear and tear not covered by the lifetime warranty includes changes in color, abrasions, and general breakdown of materials over time.  Some examples of common wear and tear include color fading from sun exposure, worn elastic, and fabric wear, especially in high wear areas such as corners, reflective binding, worn velcro, and worn shoulder or back padding. Some examples of accidential damage are rips or cuts in fabric, animals chewing or clawing on our products, as well as damage arising from airline abuse such as bent or dented luggage handles or damaged/cracked wheels & bottomplates.

What products aren’t covered by your fabulous warranty?

Any headwear, apparel or footwear. Third party attachments and or devices like the Joey power packs or NiteIze blinky lights, or Blue bottle kit accessories like scales, grinders, or cups. Any other third party accessories sold by Timbuk2 but not bearing the Timbuk2 brand.  The items are generally warrantied by their respective manufacturers.

Just Right ...

I bought the Q Laptop for my wife. She travels 2-3 times a year overseas and the same amount within the country. We had a 33Litre backpack which she felt was too large for her, I bought the backpack originally for the type of travel we do. I stumbled across the Q backpack while researching reviews of another backpack to buy. I bought the Q backpack because of its design features. Knowing my wife will cram as much as she can into a backpack, I wanted one that would not bulge when filled. There are clever storage features for a tablet and a laptop, small pockets for chargers, earpieces, pens and sunglasses. We tend to use small storage pouches for passports and documents to keep everything in order. The Q backpack claims 26L of storage which I believe it will. Having a smaller backpack is also easier on my wife to wear, even if she does fill it up. We tend to place our carry on under the seat in front of our children so we can get to our electronics and their snacks, the Q backpack fits nicely under the seat, although if you're a single traveller, the placement of the bag under the seat will take away some foot space. There are grab handles on the side of the bag, which makes it easier to lift out of taxis or other spaces, but I wish the grab handles were more substantial, my wife could then carry it like a briefcase/messenger bag. No regrets about the purchase for my wife, she also loves the colour as the other bag was a boring blue :-(

I bought this for my fiance to replace his stolen Swiss Army Gear backpack. He loves this backpack, particularly the pockets and the color.

Just what I wanted

I was looking for a low profile (narrow) backpack that could also carry all my laptop stuff for work. This bag fulfills all my needs in those regards. I would definitely recommend it. I was skeptical about the laptop pocket having a "half-zipper" and being against my back but those fears proved unfounded. It is comfortable and easy to access. The two drawbacks: 1. The bottom, angled pocket is awkward. I have to jam in my power cords to get them to fit, and if there is anything in the pocket right above, it slouches over the bottom pocket's zipper, making it awkward to access. This is a minor inconvenience and not a deal breaker. 2. The straps hold their position once adjusted, but adjust a bit too easily. If I step on a dangling strap and pull up even slightly it runs through the adjustment clip quickly. This is also a minor inconvenience and not a deal breaker Overall I'm very satisfied with this bag and would purchase again.

Great backpack with a lot of flexibility

I had a really hard time picking the right backpack, but I think I made a good choice here. There are a lot of pockets and it's extremely comfortable. Even when I have a full load, it distributes weight very well, making it feel light and not too heavy, especially compared to my previous backpack which was noticeably heavy when I was carrying both my laptop and iPad. One thing to note is that the color has a green tint to it even though it may appear a cooler grey in the pictures. It doesn't stand up by itself very well and tends to fall over unless properly propped up against a hard surface. I would recommend this backpack and think it's both attractive and very versatile.

Nice backpack, poor delivery

The backpack is great. Love it. However, the delivery took two weeks! Way too long in 2017.

Perfect for a mobile office

I'm a developer who works from different locations. This bag is great for keeping all my stuff with me and organized. Not too bulky, but lots of room for my laptop, cables and other gear.

Almost great, but has poorly designed zippers

Use this for work. I travel on the train and often have to stand for long periods of time. I hold two laptops, a tablet, and other electronics so it is on the heavy side. The sternum strap distributes the weight perfectly and minimizes fatigue. Would be an easy recommendation if it weren't for the zippers. A lot of the time, they don't unzip smoothly. You have to use your other hand to hold the fabric to stop it from getting stuck/snagged. A thicker, more rigid zipper and zipper-lining would do wonders.

Surpassed expectations

This is a really well-made, well-designed bag. Somehow they got the proportions just right so that it has an impressive capacity, but never looks or feels bulky, even when full. Because the bag is slightly long, that main compartment is bigger than I'd expected. The laptop compartment is very well-padded, so I no longer need a separate protective sleeve. I have to bring an ipad and macbook to work so I really like the ease with which that compartment accommodates those things and the degree of protection they offer. I only use a 15" but I checked and it easily fits my wife's 17" work laptop, which is a pretty boxy item. At work my bag has to serve as a mobile desk - I'm always running around setting up my gadgets in different parts of the building or at different locations, so I've found the layout of the bag very helpful in terms of organization and easy-access to everything. I use the power brick compartment for the laptop's brick plus a pretty hefty ipad backup battery, my phone's and ipad's chargers and all the fun wires involved. Yes this cuts into the capacity of the main compartment, but its great having all that stuff in that easy-access pocket. There are lots of other nice details. The water bottle sleeve holds my 27 ounce bottle securely. The front zippered pocket (the slimmest pocket) actually has a great little mesh sleeve that is perfect for my phone. I'm pretty sure it would also be big enough for a larger "plus" size phone. Keeps the phone in place, and is very easy access. This also frees up the little "floating pocket" at the top for my sunglasses. The middle pocket is a little bigger than I expected and has a nice sewn-in organizer for pens, small tools, etc. This area has its own protective padding. The shoulder straps are great: besides the padding, they are shaped in a way that allows you to really tighten them without discomfort and without making it a pain to get the bag on/off (very important to me). That's a hard thing to explain in a review, sorry... In fact when I first got the bag I thought the straps were a little weird and slightly uncomfortable, but I figured "heck everything else is great, so I'll keep it." I decided to try really tightening the straps and was surprised at how well that worked - also hard to explain, but it evens out the pressure the straps put on you and it also causes the back to sit a little higher on your back. So, the comfort went from "okay" to "awesome." I can really pack the bag and it still feels balanced and secure as I'm hurrying around. I didn't say "heavy-duty protection" because for electronics, I feel like only a "case" can offer that. However as backpacks go the protection is certainly impressive and probably more than adequate for most of us. Also I haven't gotten it wet at all so its tough to judge its water-resistance. I don't expect it to keep out continuous heavy rain, but between the durable fabric and all the padding I think it will be fairly water-resistant. I haven't had the pleasure of dealing with TSA since getting this bag but Its nice how they made it so you can get your laptop out safely while only taking one strap off. Not sure I'm coordinated enough to do that but its a cool option. In any case the way the zipper is arranged for the laptop compartment is ideal - if your bag is sitting upright on the floor, you could have the zipper open for easy access but the laptop and ipad will not tumble out. So there you go, this is really great product. One last thing that I find amusing: For some reason this bag looks way better in-person than it does in the pics on the website. That was a bonus, in my opinion.

Survived 4 months of trekking!

I used this product while I was in Ghana for four months. Originally was going to use a normal backpack but I am so glad that I didn't! Don't let the name fool you! Although this is a "laptop" backpack, I mostly used it while hiking and walking through different fishing villages, the rainforest, and beaches. On days that I would keep my laptop in it, it was awesome and was very comfortable. I would not, however, say it's weatherproof. There was very heavy rainfall and although it did a better job at keeping things dry than a normal backpack, many of my possessions and the backpack itself was pretty damp-not a problem because my laptop is in a waterproof laptop case. However, it did start to smell after a while. But besides that, this a great backpack that will last you for a very long time!
