Disappointing

      Comments about Rogue Laptop Backpack:

I used a TB2 messenger bag for years and loved its versatility, but was never very comfortable cycling with it for more than a few miles, and i tended to knock things over in tight spaces due to its width. So i got this backpack. It is everything that a TB2 messenger bag isn't...and i mostly mean that in a bad way.

While it is indeed more comfortable than a messenger bag on the bike (The sternum strap is good), and good at keeping out light rain, the details that TB2 is normally so good at are not thought-through on this bag:

      - The laptop sleeve puckers and folds over itself when trying to insert laptop, so this is never a one-handed operation
      - The velcro strap for holding the laptop in place (does anyone really need this strap to keep their laptop in the sleeve?) gets in the way when inserting a laptop, because it always seems to lay across the opening. Worse, the "hook-side" of the strap, which is inside the body of the pack, grabs my sweater sleeves and cuffs when i'm reaching inside for something.
      - Once your laptop is in the sleeve, there's no actual padding on the bottom of the bag, so when you set your bag down you're essentially dropping your laptop on its edge onto the floor. If the bag is very full, the laptop is held a little better, but when nearly empty the back panel just sags and lets the laptop smack down.
      - Although i like the size and design of the upper organizer, its weight makes it flop inward when bag is open, getting in the way of loading. This is due to the center section of the front panel being relatively flexible while the bottom and top organizers are heavy and stiff.
      - The top-flap loading design, which i was excited about because it mimicks the messenger bag, doesn't allow "overstuffing" the way you can with a TB2 mesenger bag. Both the flap itself and the straps are too short to reach unless the contents are no higher than the top edge of the bag. I don't get why they nerfed this functionality; it was a great way to carry just a bit more without having to buy a bigger bag.
      - The bag doesn't have enough structure / square enough bottom to stand upright unless mostly loaded and with only heavy things at the bottom; it tends to flop on it's face even when leaned backwards against something. Impossible to work out of, say when leaning it against the side of your chair at a crowded coffee shop. It flops onto the ground into the aisle constantly.

I realize this sounds pretty harsh, but i feel that when you buy a "laptop backpack" from an experienced brand like TB2, they would have thought of these things.

      Comments about Rogue Laptop Backpack:

I use this bag everyday for work and school - it fits a laptop, binder and workout clothes comfortably. The build quality is excellent and the bag is sturdy and protects my laptop well.

The only downsides I've found using it are:
      1) Lack of pockets/organization mechanisms: the main pocket of the backpack is just that - a very deep pocket. You'll have to dig to find things.
      2) Two Buckles: It can get annoying having to keep clipping the buckles. I've just started leaving them open though, as the velcro seems to hold everything closed nicely

Overall I'm very please with this backpack and would definitely recommend it.

        Comments about Rogue Laptop Backpack:

The best features of this backpack are the waterproofing (currently surviving Autumn in Seattle) and the back support it provides. It has a stiffer back, which is great for me as a student - I'm often carrying heavy loads and the backpack is doing work keeping me back straight. I also like the lifted laptop pocket - it keeps my laptop well off the ground if I need to set the bag down for a second and overall provides better protection for my laptop. The only con I have for the bag is that the straps are not super wide and they're pretty stiff so sometimes they're a little uncomfortable, but it is starting to adjust to my shoulder shape so I think it will be great! The straps might be a little too close together and stiff for someone with a super broad back and thicker neck.

I bought this bag for business instead of Ace whose side grip was torn within a month.
I was satisfied with this daypack being both stylish and tough enough for daily usage.
If the top flap would be easier to fix and it would have more side pockets, I would be more pleased.

        Comments about Rogue Laptop Backpack:

I use the bag to go everyday to the office by bike, I carry a laptop and gym clothes. The bag has a perfect size and a nice look to show up in the office and strong enough to bring it to the gym every day. the size is perfect and the simplicity of the bag is great. However, I found the inside pocket too small. They should make it bigger so I could put my iPad mini inside, or more stuff when traveling.

            Comments about Rogue Laptop Backpack:

This is a great bag in that it's stylish, rugged without being bulky and comes is some great colors. However, it's very tall and since it's a top loading bag, when you put things in like your wallet, it falls straight down to the bottom and that's pretty much where everything ends up. With a laptop in the sleeve, and no outside pocket to retrieve the laptop, when you have a full bag and then take the laptop out, all the contents of the bag move around and then it's difficult to get the laptop back in without taking it all out.

I feel that an outside loading laptop sleeve would make more sense. The bag, due to it's depth needs side zipper access at least on one side which would make retrieval of items much easier.

The additional of a second zippered pocket would come in handy. There is one but it's very small and can't hold much without obstructing access to the main compartment.

All in all, I think I will have this bag for awhile but I don't carry much. Just items for work. If this was used for school I think it would be harder to adapt to.

A military-inspired backpack with a slim, urban profile, the Rogue samples went fast in the Timbuk2 office. Clean on the outside, the Rogue is rather clever on the inside. A stretchy, air mesh laptop sleeve keeps your laptop safe and cool and internal organization provides a place for pens and power cords. On the outside, its cushy straps are super comfortable and come with a bottle opener for hydrations emergencies. And as a nod to the hardcore, daisy-chain webbing provides attachment points for your U-lock, carabiners or more serious strap-on accessories, but they're designed to look good naked too. Do as you wish.
