Comments about Shift Pannier Messenger:

I've had this bag for a year and a half, using it daily to commute to/from work. I travel by bike to various locations in the city during the day, so I take this bag on/off the bike a few times a day. Finally, today, the center clip that holds the bag to the frame broke. I sort of expected this to happen because it appeared kind of flimsy when I got it. But, it lasted for a year and a half. Unfortunately, this bag also has my laptop in it, so when i hit the pothole (and we have a lot in Philly), the clip snapped, and the bag popped off the frame while I was riding. Luckily, the bag got caught by the shoulder strap, and never quite hit the ground. Now, I have to bungee the bag to the frame, which I could do with any bag. I'm hoping Timbukt2 will ante up and replace the clip, because that is the key component of this bag. Without it, it's kind of useless.
This would be less frustrating, except that when I bought the bag, the screw that held the side clips was missing, so I had to replace that part as well.
I do love the bag, but the key components (the bike clips) are not as well built as they need to be.
I also agree with other reviews that a water bottle pocket and a helmet mesh would really add to this bag. And, the bag does not hang vertically when you use the shoulder strap. That makes it a little uncomfortable. But, since it's the only one of its kind, I'll keep using it.

      Comments about Shift Pannier Messenger:

I hate to say, but it's a good bag. It's too bad this is the only place that makes something like this because their customer service and attitude needs work. I had a concern about my purchase, when I contacted them I was told it was a "bummer" and I was on an "emotional roller coaster". I've been in the hospitality business nearly 20 years and could never imagine responding to a customer concern like that. Maybe it sounds cool in your local area but your dealing with people from all over the nation. Get it together and speak professionally. I wasn't upset until after I spoke with them.

Great bag, however, needs an external water bottle pocket so that you can transfer to and from the bike easily, otherwise you need too many hands. A mesh helmet flap would be nice to!

        Comments about Shift Pannier Messenger:

        The good:
        + Build quality seems great
        + Looks good
        + versatile

        The bad:
        - Fairly small; I can fit a laptop, shirt and jeans, but need to take a 2nd backpack for shoes
        - The included strap is uncomfortable
        - Bag tends to hang parallel to the ground rather than to your body. I think it's due to the weight of the mounting hardware at the top of the bag.

        Comments about Shift Pannier Messenger:

I was reluctant to buy this bag because 1. the price tag 2. I thought it would be too small for me. However, I've been using it for about a month and it's great. On busy days I go to the gym, then work, then school (in that order). The bag IS small but I've been able to fit my laptop, a change of clothes, extra shoes, and a lunch on a good day. However, I do often find myself having to make choices about what to take and leave behind. I keep larger panniers both at work and home for when I need more room, but so far only used it once.

        things I love:
-no sweaty back! Switching from backpack to this has changed everything.
-It can go seamlessly go from bike to work to school and no one has to know you biked there.
        - the outer pocket that fits my bike lock.

        things I would change:
        - I would love an outer compartment and a water bottle compartment. One of my maing gripes is having to unbuckle the whole bag to fish out my bike lock keys. I will point out though that you can stick items in the flap though.
-the hardware is ok once you get used to it. The bottom hook doesn't seem super sturdy. However, I often don't use the hook and don't tighten the top hooks and it stays on just fine.
-it's slightly heavy, but not too bad. It's surprisingly comfortable once you zip up and hide the hardware.

Overall, I'm very pleased. I hope if/when they upgrade this bag they add a little more room!! Otherwise, it's pretty awesome and worth the money if appearance and comfort are your priorities.

        Comments about Shift Pannier Messenger:

Solid product. Velcro is a personal annoyance (hate the sound). Rack clip takes a little time to put on and take off rack (you have to tighten the center clip to make it secure). Straps are barely long enough for me (6'1") and need constant adjusting when putting on (straps stay in place once on).

        Comments about Shift Pannier Messenger:

I bought this bag for bike commuting about 40 miles round trip. My laptop and clothes for the office (plus a few small extras) fit perfectly in the bag. It is made of heavy duty materials, which is good, but makes it relatively heavy when combined with the hooks for the bike rack. The weight is not an issue once it's on the bike but is noticeable when walking with it. Also, a little more room and an extra compartment or two would be nice. Overall, I am very happy with it so far.

Great bag. Good for versatile use, both on bike and shoulder.

The clips I am used to are a bit smaller, but the actually covered up pretty well when using it as a shoulder bag.

Both size and color options would be great, would love to make a more playful choice.
