    Comments about Sleuth Camera Backpack:

I bought this product because I found myself leaving my camera at home when traveling because I did not want to bring more than one bag. Having two kids, I like to take pictures, but I also have a lot of other items to bring. This solved the issue providing me with a great camera bag, disguised as a backpack, with extra room for a change of clothes or snacks for my kids. The bag also fits very well. I'm 6'3" and it's comfortable to wear without appearing too small on my back.

    Comments about Sleuth Camera Backpack:

This is a really awesome lightweight backpack for photographers for commuting or day hikes. The camera compartment is padded well and has surprising amount of space. To give you an idea, I can easily fit a medium format Hasselblad camera and an extra lens and filters with room to spare.

The backpack is also inconspicuous and blends in well in cityscape. It has a padded pocket that easily fits 15" Retina MacBookPro and enough space in upper compartment for extra stuff. I now commute with this backpack, often carrying fairly serious camera gears so I can go take photos of sunset or city/landscape on a whim.

A couple of things that can be better - if I mount the tripod on the back (awesome for day hikes), the pockets are impossible to get to. And there are no other pockets. If you open the top zippers too far, things in the top compartment can easily come flying out.

Aside from these small things, it's really a great backpack for anyone wanting to carry photography gear up the trails, or in the city without ever being noticed.

      Comments about Sleuth Camera Backpack:

It was a great bag that really has fits all I want it to fitted. When I travel, I only takes camera and laptop and this bag fits them perfectly. There are also room in the upper part that fits extra flash pouch, water or books. It is an ideal bag for me. However, there is one con that I think is very inconvenient. It is a camera bag but hard to take camera in/out. You have to lay the bag down in order to grab the camera. If this can improve, I definitely will love it even more.

      Comments about Sleuth Camera Backpack:

This bag holds loads of camera gear in the camera compartment from a variety of systems. I can easily fit a Mamiya 645 Pro body with prism, a back attached to the body, and two lenses. In another configuration it fits a Canon FTBn or A-1 body with one lens attached and 3 additional prime lenses. In another configuration, it holds a Yashica TLR and a Minolta CLE range finder with one or two additional lenses. All configurations still have room for film. It is easy to carry a Macbook Pro, power supply, notebook, pens, and other odds and ends in the main compartment. The bag is somewhat stiff due to the padding, but I like this as the bag will stand up by itself when fully loaded.

There are, however, a few areas that could be improved upon. If you fail to close the zipper on the camera section, your gear will just fall out. It would be better if the zipper opened in the opposite (i.e. opening from the top instead of the bottom) and included some gussets to keep things from completely falling out if you do fail to close the zipper. Additionlly, the mesh pocket inside the camera compartment is best suited for flat items likes memory cards or lens caps. It is difficult to put film cannisters in the mesh pockets as the cans interfere with the dividers when closing. An external pocket might be more useful, or two small pockets, one on each side of the bag, for holding bulkier items like film cans. It would be nice if the two existing small zippered compartments on the outside of the bag were a little larger.

        Comments about Sleuth Camera Backpack:

I've been struggling to find the "right" photo backpack. This bag is like most of the rest, big enough for a consumer level DSLR and a couple non pro lenses. Unfortunately to fit a pro DSLR and 2.8 zooms there just isn't room. So one is compelled to leave stuff behind... I would love to see someone design a backpack that is primarily designed for gear primarily, with laptop and other backpack stuff in the compromise column. I've got a good idea how to do this is if you want me to explain. All in all a nice bag... Thanks!

I love how I can put my body and lenses in the bottom and my water housing and wetsuit in the top. Also, my 17 in. macbook pro fits easily even when I've packed the bag to it's max. I just wish it had some side pockets or bungees for a towel, water bottle, or map.

          Comments about Sleuth Camera Backpack:

I'm a professional photographer in San Francisco and I do a lot of outdoor photography. This bag is amazing for keeping all of my gear in one place and it NOT being super obviously that I'm carrying around thousands of dollars of camera equipment. I used to have to put my bag down when I was shooting and now I can keep everything on my back, which is awesome. This backpack also fits my round 42 inch reflector and no other camera bag on the market does that. I cannot recommend this backpack highly enough.

          A solid "dad bag"

          • Not Enough Pockets

          Best Uses

            Comments about Sleuth Camera Backpack:

I got this as my "dad bag" and to counter the bright pink diaper bag my wife bought. This bag is (almost) perfect for what I want to do with it. I have to main functions I want this bag to support:

            1) Being a central way to transport laptop, camera and other stuff when I travel or go on vacation. One bag for me to pack my gear in and one bag to worry about. This bag is great for this, it fits everything I need (camera, laptop, tablet, cables/cords, books, etc).

            2) Being a "diaper"/walk around bag. When I'm going out to the zoo or shopping or other day trip, this bag works pretty well, too. I like that the laptop holder isn't a separate compartment but is just a sleeve in the main compartment. It means I have more usable space when not carrying a laptop. Plus, the sleeve is great for holding something like a portable changing board. What I don't like is that the divider for the camera compartment is removable. I may be in the minority here, but it means if I have a juice box accident in the top compartment, my camera compartment is going to experience the juicy goodness, too. It adds to the flexibility of the bag but given that I bought it expressly for the camera (and wont use it without the camera) its a feature that doesn't do much for me.

A couple other thoughts (possibly suggestions for the next round of the bag).

            1. A side access point would make this bag more versatile. To access your camera you need to take the bag off and put it on a flat surface (or your lap). Not exactly the convenient if you are hiking or other activity where there is a lot of walking and you don't want to leave your camera hanging on your neck. A side access where you can slide off one strap, get the camera, take a picture or two, put it back in and zip it up would be great. (Plus, side access openings can make it a little harder for someone to steal your gear off your back and less likely for your stuff to fall out if you aren't careful zipping it up).

            2. As someone else mentioned, a side pocket for a water bottle would be great. I love the bottle opener but it won't get as much use as the bottle holder.

            3. Add a waist strap, something that will help take a little weight off the shoulders and make it more comfortable for prolonged carry.

            4. Maybe this was just my bag, but the zippers on the top section are a little sticky, they zip into the protective flap a little too easily and it takes more conscious thought that I like to unzip my bag. Good, sturdy zippers are a big plus in any bag this size.

All in all this is a great bag but designed more for the first use above (a basic camera transportation bag) and less for the second use (a backpack to take on a hike or trip and actively use the camera).

I still like this bag and plan to use it, but I would love to see what they come up with in the future with a more active minded photographer in mind.
