What's this all about?

The Snoop Camera Messenger Bag / SLR Camera Case would make an excellent spy. On the outside it plays it cool with dark coloring and classic messenger bag styling, but on the inside it's calculated, cautious, and a little bit sneaky. The fully padded, totally modular interior is designed to house camera lenses, bodies, and batteries. Simply move the walls around to fit the cameras you carry. If you really mean business, you can secure your tripod with the adjustable straps on the bottom of the bag. And when you're not packing (cameras), simply remove the padded insert and rock it like a classic messenger bag.

Comments about Snoop Camera Messenger Bag:

I use this bag as intended, for my Nikon DSLR camera, lenses and accessories. I have no complaints about the bag at all. It's stylish, roomy, well made, and travels well. If I had one thing I'd like to see offered in the future it's a shoulder strap with a bit more length, as this bag rides somewhat high on me. I realize that's for ease of getting to your camera quickly, but a the option would be nice. My gear feels totally protected and it's great finally having everything I use in one package. Great bag.

Comments about Snoop Camera Messenger Bag:

When Timbuk2 introduced the original Snoop Messenger bag, I was already a fan. Having owned a TB2 messenger bag for almost a decade now, I'm familiar enough with their product's durability. However, I held off on the purchase simply because I was already in possession of a few DSLR bags.

Recently, I found myself in need of a bigger bag. Instead of replacing mines with a bigger updated version, I decided to pay the premium for the Snoop set. When the bag arrived, I was expecting to be galvanized. Instead, I was having mixed feelings. Some of the features that TB2 are known for (to me at least) weren't carried over to the Snoop.

The denser shoulder strap and better strap management for instance were amongst the few features I miss. The Snoop's straps are flimsier and often tangles. The straps on my original TB2 bag were about 3x denser. The same can be said for a variety of other TB2 bags owned by my friends and family. Because of the density, it never tangled. In terms of strap management, the Snoop kind of lack. If you wear the bag closes to the chest, get ready to have a lengthy excess strap dangling from the side. It shouldn't pose an issue, just preferred how it was handled on older bags or other models. The tripod straps are a welcome addition, just wish there was a way to conceal it since it won't be used most of the time.

Overall, I'm still very satisfied. For all I know, some of these changes are probably for the better, just feels like the worst. Within time I will be able to give a better assessment. For now, it performs the way it should. Being that it's TB2, I have no doubt that it'll last for decades to come.

I use this to hold my camera gear, then as a briefcase without the camera insert. This is a nice combo as I can just load the camera and lenses when needed and still have my laptop (13" macbook air)

Comments about Snoop Camera Messenger Bag:

I wanted a bag that was a bit nicer, tougher, and less afraid of water than my current bag. I got the medium size for fear of the large being too unwieldy for normal use. I think I made the right call for the overall size of the bag, unfortunately, the inside of the bag isn't as large as I hoped. I think this is a side effect of the bag's design with the fully removable camera insert. Because the padding isn't part of the outside of the bag, you end up with a medium sized bag on the outside, and a small bag on the inside. I suppose it's a sacrifice to be made for the convertible functionality.

Comments about Snoop Camera Messenger Bag:

I own more camera bags than any other type of gear - no bag hits the mark perfectly. This bag gets really close, but has a few weird, spoiler flaws. Not fatal flaws, but shortcomings that will keep me looking. Sigh. And I thought this was "the one."

Most camera bags aren't designed tall for DSLR zoom lenses, and have a camera bag "look". This bag fixes both issues. It's tall enough to hold a Nikon 70-200VR2 lens vertically with decent space overhead to spare. Can put a D800E with 24-70 zoom mounted and hood attached in shooting mode, into the bag vertically, again with space over. Looks like a messenger bag... unless you've got gear in it.

It can hold a LOT of stuff. On my recent shoot, I packed the following Nikon gear for travel: 70-200VR f2.8 one end, vertical; 16-35VR f4 other end, vertical; 24 f1.4, 35 f1.4, 85 f1.8, 1.7x teleconverter in middle between the two lenses, in compartments made with dividers from other camera bags. Sitting on top of that center stuff, a D800E with 24-70 f2.8 mounted lens hood reversed. iPad, white balance cards, logbook across in the laptop slot; if I put my 15" MacBook Air in the slot instead, the flap on the bag would NOT cover the clear pocket on the front completely. Fail on "messenger bag" look. Miscellaneous stuff tucked inside around: flashlight; SD card case; 2 spare camera batteries, a couple protein bars, lens cloths, pens. 3 CF cards in the clear pocket on the front. That's a lot of stuff.

When I went out to shoot, I carried a subset of that, sometimes with tripod in the straps below. With a three lens kit and iPad, the flap didn't cover the front of the bag properly. The tripod straps worked fine. They tend to loosen on their own, but by tightening one of the straps on the tripod just below the head, it kept the tripod in place well enough.

The bag's depth is such that the width of lenses + MacBook are thicker than the top flap is meant to cover. That's a fail - the flap should cover the front completely with lens+laptop thickness, otherwise it's NOT a camera + laptop bag. With the iPad in the slot, the flap MOSTLY covered the front, still a fail.

The other annoyance is the lack of small stuff storage. The Napoleon pocket is great - held my passport and a few note cards. But the clear pocket is pretty much the ONLY other small stuff storage, and a CF card is about as thick as it can handle. Really, there should be pen slots/AA battery holders (a pen slot works for either); a few small pockets for things like microfiber cloths, spare camera batteries, little notebooks, etc. I may check out using the insert in a traditional Timbuk2 messenger bag, which would have all those tiny-junk holders.

Most shoulder pads are too slippery for shoulder carry. This pad was OK - not too slippery, but not real grippy. It's great as a cross-body strap but as a shoulder carry strap, not grippy enough. But you can't easily change the strap or pad. The shoulder strap itself is really, really thin, compared to other Timbuk2 bags I've owned, so much so it tangles easily.

Summing up: holds a lot, lightweight, but the flap is under-sized, not enough tiny-junk organization, only carries well as a cross body carry and not as a shoulder carry. Comes closer to right than most other bags. I'd recommend it, but with reservations.

Comments about Snoop Camera Messenger Bag:

I bought this (size M) for journalistic work, as I needed a bag that would hold a 13" MacBook Air, plus an Olympus E-PL5 MFT camera and lenses.

The bag easily devours all my kit with room to spare, so much so that I'd like to get more padded dividers. It holds the Olympus body with kit zoom fitted, plus three additional lenses to give me versatility. It also holds all cables and a flash to make sure I can stay connected. I've even managed to squeeze in an iPad and jotter just to be thorough.

That said, it's not all great. I'm not a fan of the baby blue padding and would prefer the subtle grey that's shown in the photo. The shoulder strap is also on the short side (I'm 6'2" tall), meaning that the bag sits high on my hip. The transparent pocket in the front isn't ideal either - I'd have preferred something that didn't put my memory cards on display.

Ultimately though, I can work around the negatives. It allows me to squeeze all my tech into a single bag, which also counts as a single carry-on at the airport. For that alone, it's become my working bag of choice.

Comments about Snoop Camera Messenger Bag:

You can tell that this is a durable bag directly. I love it as a messenger bag without the protective inlay. Its durable (you can tell), lightweight and looks great. They added great details like the silencer strips etc.

My intention was to use this bag as a camera bag though. =/

The main problem i have with this bag is that once the bag has the protective inlay and some gear in it the flap that is supposed to cover the bag doesnt. Maybe this is a design choice that i dont understand. The flap should cover the bag once closed, not two thirds or half of it (atleast not in my opinion). Ontop of that the clear pocket glimmers and show what ever is inside to the world since the flap doesnt cover all of it.
Bottom line, i will not use this bag as a camera bag. Its a shame because its a nice looking bag that feels like it could follow me around the world without a hinch. But i just cant stand it when the flap doesnt cover the whole bag. Its a shame. =/

I will keep it as a messenger bag, its that nice, wish i could use it as a camera bag though.

Comments about Snoop Camera Messenger Bag:

Great bag that is comfortable to carry around. My only minor con with it is when it's packed full, the front flap doesn't fold all the way over thus exposing the contents of the see-through front pocket. Also, when handling it with the top handle it tends to hang at a slight angle as a result. Otherwise it's a great bag so far.
