Claire Jauregui

Claire was born in Chico, California in 1980. She graduated with a BHA in art, creative writing, and gender studies from Carnegie Mellon University in 2002. Claire spent her junior year of college in the south of France and attributes her love and use of vibrant color to this experience. Claire's current work explores how color, shape, density, and texture interact to create different types of space. The shapes in her paintings create recall clouds, stepping stones, and aerial views of landscapes. These shapes in turn create maps, paths, and records of a particular journey. Claire has lived in Seattle since 2004 and enjoys biking to her studio, sitting in the sun, drinking tea, and eating pancakes on Sundays.
