Comments about Walker Laptop Backpack:

Didn't realize the backpack didn't have a very secure way of closing (ie, the main flap closes only with 2 buttons). I tend to carry a lot to work via bike (laptop, lunch, notebooks, misc. wear, etc.), and this bag - while it looks roomy - is pretty narrow. It's something that I'll continue to use, but not ideal if you're an over-packer.

Comments about Walker Laptop Backpack:

The product arrived in about a week. I was immediately disappointed to find out there were holes and scratches on the package. It just came in a plastic bag with no bubble wrap or peanuts. They claim its durable enough to go with just piece of plastic.

I opened up and found that there were scratches and dings on the back of backpack. Also, the front was creased and it was already looking used. I know its a backpack and it will wear over time but for something that I am paying premium, I can't justify the price I am paying and I wanted brand new and clean looking product. I am upset how poorly it was packaged and I was surprised to find out how easy it was to get dirty look.

I hope someone will find this review useful and will alert about downside about this backpack. FYI, I am returning this bag.

Comments about Walker Laptop Backpack:

I use this product for work every day. It looks great, but I am disappointed in the build quality. The zipper quality is just awful, they ride rough, snag constantly and just feel terrible. The button separating the two outer pockets is a bad way to separate the pockets, it constantly comes undone so 2 pockets just become one, a more permanent divider would be better. Bag cannot be buttoned if it is very full, the two buttons need more separation allowing for a very full bag to be closed. (for travel)

On the plus side, the bag is comfortable, looks great(i have gotten loads of compliments), is very comfortable, and it works great as an every day laptop bag.

Comments about Walker Laptop Backpack:

Because of a medical condition, I have a weaker left side. This makes walking quickly an issue for me. Other bags and backpacks I have owned tend to be bulky and to flop around a bit when I am scurrying to the next meeting. Frequently this caused me to lose my balance, especially during a fast walk. This pack solves the problem completely. The rather flat, streamlined design means the bag fits snugly against my back and does not cause a problem when I walk. The bag is flat and stiff enough so that it does not sag and flop, even when completely full. What's more, it looks nice enough for everyday use in the business world. I love the texture and look of the canvas with leather highlights. Much more distinctive than the ballistic nylon carried by everyone else.

My only suggestion would be the addition of an externally accessible open (no zipper) pocket, deep enough to hold a folder or slim portfolio.

Thanks Timbuk2. This bag has really helped me.

    Comments about Walker Laptop Backpack:

I use this bag as my everyday bag. It hauls everything and gets thrown on the bike when not on my back. The bag has plenty of pockets for stuffing things, but most are deep and narrow. It can be easy to loose things at the bottom. The snap closure is a bit slower than a zipper, but works well and has a nicer look than a zipper. My guess is the bag will be durable and wear well, but I've only had it a couple of weeks now.

This backpack is amazing! I've been using it for work and travel. It's comfortable and held up in some pretty heavy rain for SoCal. The drops were stopped on the water-resistant material and I was able to just wipe it off once I was inside. It's stylish and has plenty of room. Although a few extra pockets inside for additional organization would have been nice, this backpack will be your friend through it all. Glad I chose this beauty!

    Comments about Walker Laptop Backpack:

I love the bag! It looks great, and I was relieved when I first slid my laptop into the sleeve. Another review said that 15.1" was about the max depth. Not true, my 15.3" fits. To note, any more and the laptop sticks out above the sleeve. Not a huge issue, only my peace of mind would be impacted.

My biggest qualm... When I first opened the shipping bag, I noticed a distinct smell. Aside from the expected Canvas/Leather "New Bag" smell, it smelled like Ramen Noodles!! Almost as if someone has spilled some of the salty soup on the bag. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed that I wouldn't have the opportunity to really appreciate the true new bag smell. Especially since I saw this bag as a splurge investment purchase.

Its not enough for me to file a return, but a bit of a bummer.

      Comments about Walker Laptop Backpack:

After a long search for an adult looking backpack I decided to order the Walker. I wasn't exactly sure how I'd get along without my old bag's external netting/pocket but the style and apparent ruggedness of the bag matched or exceeded anything else I found.

I'm so pleased. My daily carry fit well and protruded far less from my back. I've gotten a few nice comments on it, which I usually take to mean everyone has noticed. The outside pocket is easy to get into with one hand and I can fit a headphone case and lunch container without issue.

Very happy. if it lasts as long as I hope it will have been well worth the price.

      Comments about Walker Laptop Backpack:

After having used a North Face backpack for several years, and a Tumi briefcase for about ten years before that, I was ready for something different, but still professional looking and suitable for business. I wanted a style that was different than most backpacks. I ran across the Distilled Collection Walker backpack and decided to give it a try. I ordered the charcoal color and was quite impressed when I received it.

So here is what I like about it:

The waxed canvas is very tough and will last a very long time--probably a lifetime given that I usually take care of my stuff. The flap design is unique and metal snap enclosures are easy to open and close. The flap is tall enough (long) so that if I overstuffed the backpack, there is ample flap to reach the snaps.

The main compartment has an inner zippered compartment that provides ample space to store valuables, such as electronics, USB flash drives, Leatherman etc.

On the outside of that zippered compartment are four sewn in pockets that accomodate pens and business cards.

A large compartment that lines the back interior allows storage of your laptop. If you have a MacBook Pro or ultrabook (thin & light), you will not have a problem storing it there. Laptops that are 1" or thicker may be too big depending on the depth of the laptop. I would think 15" ultrabook will fit fine. I full-sized 15" laptop may be too big.

The liner material is very nice. It is soft and has a nice fuzzy feel to it. My liner is light gray with darkey gray horizontal stripes, which complements the charcoal exterior nicely.

The straps are well made with leather binding and leather attachment straps at the shoulder connecting the straps to the back of the backpack.

One example of the exquisite workmanship and attention to detail are the metal studs that
reinforce the strap mounts to the leather straps at the shoulder and adjustable cloth straps at the bottom. The studs have the Timbuk2 circular logo. While that alone is nice, the logos are all aligned in the correct vertical orientation that represents their corporate logo. Now that is a small detail, but is representative of the overall attention to detail throughout this backpack. The studs are evenly spaced and aligned--no defects in workmanship here.

The exterior zippered pocket on the bottom has a long key leash that uses a cloth material that is also complementary in color to the liner and exterior--nice attention to detail.

The brass exterior zippers are heavy duty and have black leather pulls that match the black leather binding on the flap, staps and high-wear points at the bottom corners of the backpack.

Even the ends of the adjustable straps have black leather binding to prevent fraying. Most manufacturers usually fold it over and sew it to form a finger loop. The leather binding is just another nice touch that goes to the overall look and feel of the backpack.

The left side of the backpack (when you have it on) is vertical zippered pocket that allows storage of an umbrella or small water bottle. The stretchy fabric that allows expansion is rather thin and I am not sure how it will hold up longterm. Working in Seattle where I use an umbrella quite often, I'm not sure if inserting and removing the umbrella will tear or wear a hole in this lightweight stretchy fabric over time.

The leather grab handle at the top of the backpack makes carrying the back easy. It is very useful and a nice touch to the overall design.

Now here is where I would like to see improvement:

I would like an additional externally accessible zippred pocket. I just like to keep items organized and having two smaller pockets than one large one along the bottom would be preferable.

The large pocket separated by a single snap would be more functional if it was sewn and permanently separated. The snap is not tight and will often unsnap forming the one pocket and co-mingling what I was tryig to keep separate.

Despite these two drawbacks, I would still recommend this backpack. It is unique, yet still plenty professional looking for the office. It is not overly large and works well for everyday use.

I see more and more office professionals use backpacks nowadays. Whether they carry laptops, have lots of files or just want to keep their hands free, backpacks are very popular. Most resemble my North Face Borealis or similar design. However, I doubt you will see another one like the Walker around town. Part of the reason may be the price, but I also see people carrying $300-400 Tumi and Brenthaven backpacks. While they are extremely well made and very functional, they still look like most other backpacks out there. Not the Walker, however.

If you enjoy great workmanship, attention to detail, strong materials, I am sure you will not be disappointed by the Walker. Just be aware of fewer organizational pockets. I work in IT and I like keeping things organized--not Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory organized, but organized nonetheles. However, I like the Walker backpack well enough that I am getting used to it!!
