Comments about Wingman Carry-On Travel Bag:

I have used this bag a lot as my primary suitcase- mostly for domestic travel but once to Europe. The thing that I liked most about it is that it has straps to convert it into a backpack but it really should have hip straps so it is more comfortable and practical to wear for long periods of time. That would make this bag perfect

Comments about Wingman Carry-On Travel Bag:

I fly standby a lot so it's really important to me to be able to fit everything into a carry on so I don't have to worry about checked bags getting lost. This bag fits even more inside than it looks like it can! Also when I ordered the bag I didn't notice it had a separate pouch that is perfect for putting shoes inside so they don't get your clothes dirty. I've packed enough clothes for a week in this bag plus 2 pairs of shoes and my toiletries bag! very impressed.

I also work remotely so it is important that I can fit my laptop in a pocket that is easy to access. my 15" macbook + charger fits perfectly in the front pocket.

On top of that I also travel with my dog a lot. I have two different carriers one that is over the shoulder and one that is a backpack. I really appreciate that this bag can be either so that I can adjust accordingly depending on what dog carrier I'm using.

I also care a lot about design and I am in love with the color of this bag. I got the carbon/fire which looks both unique while also looking grown up and modern. I also love that even though it's soft (which makes it easier to fit into overhead bins no matter how full it is) that it doesn't look bulky.

      nice one timbuk2!!!

Comments about Wingman Carry-On Travel Bag:

I've had this bag for a little over a year and use it as my main bag for all travel. This includes week long work trips, personal weekend trips, and one 3-week Euro vacation. This bag can do it all and knowing that I can carry it on everywhere I go is extremely valuable peace of mind.

I generally do laundry when I travel for long trips, so packing enough clothes is never a problem when leaving for weeks at a time. The key is being able to pack at least ~1 weeks worth of clothes, have space to separate dirty laundry, one extra pair of shoes, and easy access to necessities like phones or books. This bag has it all for me. Not to mention the versatility of being able to use it like a backpack, sling it with a should strap, or just grab a strap like a duffel bag.

My only complaint is how uncomfortable the backpack straps and shoulder strap can be when it's packed full. I can pack a decent amount of weight in that bag and not having it distribute weight well is only minor pain.

Converts from a bag to a pack so you can move quickly through the airport around the dorks with their rolling bags. It has taken a total beating on 12 trips this year without any sign of damage.

Clothes for 5 days, laptop and accessories, iPad all safely packed away in this bag which slides into the overhead bin. Best money I have ever spent on a bag.

Great bag for weekend away, used recently on trip to Australia and was only bag I carried. Even fit the size and weight restrictions on air New Zealand, 7kg weight limit. Was looking for a bag I could take on business trip and not check a bag, this was perfect.

Comments about Wingman Carry-On Travel Bag:

I've used this bag mostly for weekend trips and found it fits very well in the overhead bins. It has a bit more room than other similar bags, and it seems to look pretty decent over the shoulder. I particularly like the absence of excess straps on the exterior and the separate shoe compartment. It seems to have just enough pockets and space for everything I need.

Comments about Wingman Carry-On Travel Bag:

I picked the Wingman specifically for travel and have taken it on three domestic (USA) flights so far. I easily carried a mix of clothes for 3-4 days, and never had a problem at the gate or fitting it into overhead bins or under the seat. Some might be turned off by the lack of structue but, like Gumby, it bends and flexes when needed but still keeps its shape well. Grab any of the carry handles and you know this bag is solid and going wherever you need it to. The Goldrush fabric is sharp; a subtle hex pattern with dark yellow accent stitching, it is understated but retains just the right amount of unique style. It seems just as durable as my collection of messengers.

However, there's one really notable flaw: a single layer of fabric covers the backpack straps on the exterior. I'm not excessively rough on my kit but I don't baby it either, and these are definite abrasion points when the bag is full and the weight is on this side. A thin piece of plastic sandwiched on the interior adds a small amount of rigidity to the bag, but also concentrates pressure on the straps and against that one sheet of cloth -- when bouncing against your leg, being dragged through security, or sliding on furniture or the floor. I'm hoping it won't be a problem long term, but vinyl or some foam on the interior of the pocket would have been an easy preventative fix. (Yeah, ok, I suppose I could put it on the other side, but still...)

Overall, a great bag and a great purchase.

Comments about Wingman Carry-On Travel Bag:

I used this for a 2 week trip to Alaska when I wanted to only take a carry-on. I also want it for future use for city breaks etc. The design attracted me as it seemed to be flexible with the various different carrying options.
The bag was great to use as it is roomy and strong, plus looks very cool in the grey carbon color. However, when full the shoulder/chest straps on their own are insufficient to carry the bag as it is big enough to be quite heavy with a full load of clothes/shoes/gear and gave me neck/shoulder ache in a way that a true backpack does not. It really needs a waist strap to make the backpack function useable. I found myself eyeing up a set of luggage wheels in the airport (which I resisted) and am now considering if I can make my own waist belt somehow to make it more useable in future. Other than this issue, it's a great bag with pockets in the right places and a spacious main compartment.

Comments about Wingman Carry-On Travel Bag:

This has been by far the best purchase for travel I have made. I travel a lot and loved it so much I had to get one for my son for his travels. Also loved it so much I had to get the co-pilot as well. Between those two, I never have to have a check on again. I could travel 3 weeks easy. Thank you timbuk2.

Comments about Wingman Carry-On Travel Bag:

Bag material ripped after first trip. It wasn't packed to maximum consumption. The pocket that holds toiletries is located at the bottom of the backpack, so causes the bottoms of the bag to pull down. Length of bag as a backpack is just not functional for traveling and will cause you back to hurt from the pulling.

The older brother of our original Wingman, this updated Wingman has outgrown hostels. Its sleek new styling works downtown or way way out of town, but its tuck-away backpack straps are still there when you need them. A time-tested traveler, the Wingman's pocketing makes sense. Its large main compartment opens wide for easy packing and a bottom expandable pocket quarantines your shoes or unmentionables from the main compartment. A small front zipper pocket enables quick access to your cards, phone, and passport while secure padded pockets carry up to a 17" MacBook Pro and an iPad. Like a good Wingman, this duffel is ready for anything.
