Job Summary
The Director of eCommerce has ultimate responsibility for the development and stewardship of integrated online strategies that will enhance the Timbuk2 customer experience. Timbuk2 is focused on delivering a product customization experience to its customers in all channels and the eCommerce channel will lead in the development and evolution of this experience.
The Director of eCommerce will act as the general manager of the eCommerce business and is responsible for defining and implementing the company’s e-commerce strategy as well as successfully managing the forecasting and merchandising of the Timbuk2 website and other online partners’ websites. This high-profile position will direct all aspects of online sales strategy, tactics and analysis, providing a stabilizing influence to the channel while driving strong business growth.
Essential Functions
• Develop and implement the annual eCommerce and online merchandising and sales strategy to drive profitable growth in Timbuk2’s direct channels: timbuk2.com and other online customers (Amazon, eBags, etc)
• Champion the TImbuk2 Brand to deliver a powerful online user experience on timbuk2.com and across the web
• Manage the roadmap and day-to-day operations for e-commerce channels including the e-commerce merchandising plans, promotional calendar and marketing requirements (SEM, SEO, email marketing, social media)
• Analyze and report on B2C sales, margins, conversion to sale and key ecommerce metrics weekly
• Lead, develop and coach e-commerce team members to achieve the direct channel strategy. Identify the culture required to meet the business vision; frame and consistently evangelize that culture in a way that motivates the organization.
• Manage systems and database requirements with direct reports, cross-functional departments and outside resources.
• Manage and leverage Customer Support.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
• 8-10 years progressive leadership experience in managing direct to consumer businesses. Progressive eCommerce brand; soft goods and/or retail preferred.
• P&L management and demonstrated track record growing volume, margins and profitability. Facile with analytics and turning numbers into insight to drive business priorities and results.
• Experience and a passion for running an ecommerce business, preferably as part of a larger multi channel business.
• Sales forecasting, planning and management experience.
• Passionate about building brand loyalty and Lifetime Value.
• Direct response (online and email) experience with responsibility for building and implementing segmentation and targeting strategies, experience with search engine marketing and optimization.
• Strong ability and past success operating in an entrepreneurial environment.
• Seasoned people manager with demonstrated experience in developing people both direct reports and through cross-functional relationships.
• Excellent communication skills to drive alignment on strategies and programs, as well as, sharing insights to help the broader organization.
• Risk-taker who can develop a plan and execute on it and work successfully in a highly collaborative environment.
