Comments about the Especial Primo Pannier
I've had the Especial Primo for a year. I live in a large city. I commute via bike year-round. This is probably my 5th pannier bag in 10 years of urban cycling and I think this is the best pannier bag I've ever used. First off the design is massively useful in terms of sheer storage space, it can open up wide without too many obstructions and can carry a lot of objects and a lot of weight. It's waterproof - I've ridden it through torrential downpours and everything inside stays dry. It's intelligently designed, the way the inner pocket can also have items reached from the outside lower pocket is smart and comes in handy. I also like how it's fairly comfortable to wear off the bike - although I flip it around so that the rack clips face outward. I like that the top flap pocket is spacious. I don't ever use the laptop inner pocket for a laptop but it's great in terms of being a durable inner divider that works well to isolate fragile items. It also doesn't look entirely functional and bland, it's fairly stylish as far as pannier bags go. My perfect bag would be a bit of a cross between the old Timbuk2 Shift Pannier bag and this one (in terms of it maybe being a bit sleeker and office friendly in the look) but for the most part this bag is fantastic. The only minor complaint is I wish a strap pad was included. I do carry the bag off the rack fairly often and sometimes the strap without a pad isn't super comfy, but at least they sell strap pads pretty inexpensively.
