Timbuk2 was founded 21 years after the very first Earth Day in 1970. Caring for the planet has always played into our ethos and culture.

Our founder, Rob Honeycutt, worked as a bicycle messenger in the eighties in San Francisco. He understood first hand the efficiencies bicycles offered as a means of transportation in an urban setting. For short distances, bicycles easily outmaneuver automobiles in terms of cost, time, congestion, and environmental impact.

The upside of our current Shelter in Place and restricted movement during COVID-19 is people are rediscovering the versatility of the bicycle as a way to stay active and distanced, while running essential errands in their city.

We’ve always been aware of the bicycle’s environmental impact, or lack thereof. We hope that everyone that’s now cycling continues to ride and give some love to the planet we celebrate today (6 feet apart, of course). Here’s to a 2020 full of cycling for all.
